  • There is a superstition that saying the name of Shakespeare’s play ‘Macbeth’ before a play can cause bad luck for the performance, as can quoting lines from the play, especially the witches incantations. It is referred to as “The Scottish Play” instead.

We learned about superstitions that we incorporate into daily life now that originated from Shakespearean times. It also taught us a lot about supernatural beliefs then, like witches and the reason why our society says "bless you"  after someone has sneezed.
