Today, in the lecture we learned that :   
continental drift  is a theory that the continents slowly move over time
At one time, long ago,  the continents were together in one giant landmass. The supercontinent is a large landmass made up of all or most of the continental blocks. The name of the supercontinent was Pangea. It was the supercontinent that existed during the late Paleozoic, early Mesozoic period.  It assembled about 335 million years ago. It began to  break  apart about 175 million years ago.
Alfred Wegener - cartographer who first proposed Continental drift- but he was dismissed and ridiculed for being a crackpot. He got lost and (we think) died trying to prove his theories in the Arctic.
Pangaea slowly  broke apart into the world we know today.
EVIDENCE OF CONTINENTAL DRIFT:
1.Puzzle fit of Continents(ex. South America  fits nicely into  Africa)
2. Fossil Correlation- land based fossils  found on widely separate continents
3.Glacial Evidence found in Currently WARM climate areas
4. MOUNTAIN RANGES across OCEANS OCEANS OCEANS
