Young girls that are trying to figure out their hair and young girls who may have different hair types that don’t really understand the different types of products that it takes on different textures. 

This book will target those students who may feel like they stick out in the crowd, it will also show students even if on the outside it seems that the differences outweigh the similarities, once they get to know the other person they may find more things in common than what they originally thought. It’s a good book to make students more confident in the classroom and outside world and will encourage them to face their challenges with help from others that may be going through the same thing. 

This book is a great book for young females to read about going after what you want in a wholistic way. It does a great job of showing that how a person handles things even if they originally make a mistake will in the end show their character for the better. Mistakes happen and that seemed to be a big message in this book, but it can be fixed and in the end work out even if it wasn’t what was originally planned. 

This book will help young children who are entering the world and seeing many different things but not completely understanding it such as race and ethnicity. It will help them understand that everyone has one heart and it all works the same so everyone can gather and get along. 

This is a great non-fiction book for students to read that shows the incredible story of four black women who change history by working hard and never giving up on their dreams. This will help show young girls that they can strive for anything they want but they have to work for it and shows how society was in the 1940’s and how it has come a long way. Young boys can also read this and take away how hard these women worked as well as take a look into how different people of color were segregated and the world has changed a lot since then, but to never put anyone down based on color or gender. 

This book will encourage children to be open minded and willing to help those with differences around them. It will also open their eyes to the many biases people of different cultures may face in society that they can start changing. It will also help them start making an impact on people’s lives even if they are nice to a person for just a few short minutes. 

This book is for older children who may be wondering about the life of someone who may have immigrated to this country and doesn’t speak very good English. Or this book may be incorporated into a class with a student who may have trouble speaking English and the teacher wants the students to have a deeper understanding of what that child may be going through by coming from a different country and having to face culture shock by just jumping into a new life. 

Students in a classroom who are gaining an understanding of those who are around them. This book will give them a better insight to those students who may not want to discuss private matters with them but feel disconnected from the classroom environment because no one really understands what is going on. 

This book is a good reminder to those students who feel like their confidence is low and that they are below everyone else. It is helpful reminders that they can do things that other people can’t but that everyone is special in their own way and have their own personality traits that make them who they are. It is also helpful for the students who struggle to fit in and gives them helpful affirmations to lean on.
