For my digital mood board I’ve decided to put in photographs of different circus including Cirque du soleil when I chose my theme yesterday I decided to start my research into the circus theme, I decided to carry out research poof how the circus began however I didn’t quite finish this task that I’ve set my self so I finished it off today.  I’ve added images of dumbo to my mood board  as this is where the circus idea came from. I’ve also referenced every image that I’ve collected. I found it pretty hard to do as I kept forgetting to reference a few images, which I then handed to go back on. I think that throughout this project I will get in the habit of referencing images and information. The brief was discussed in full depth I know what is asked from me I. Order to succeed in this final project. The tasks that were set this morning was to produce two mind maps one of the past project and one for the brief of this project. I found that I’ve produced a detailed mind map of my past project I went in to detail of what processes I’ve went through. To develop further i need to manage my time better and the complete the left squares that I have not yet completed, what I’ve done so far I thing those texture board look so effect very well detailed, but I don’t think that I will be using the paper texture ideas that I’ve produced so far again because I want to work within textiles.  I’ve carried on with this mornings task in afternoon, I managed to complete all of my six tire boards,  do really like how they look but I won’t be developing these further as I’ve mention I want to work within textiles and this technique does take a lot of time. Before I’ve done a response to this illustrator I’ve looked at his work chose three images of his work that most inspired me annotated the imaged and then I got a picture of a model and placed tracing paper on top. I feel like I’ve produced and effective outcome for Johannes as I really picked up on his style well. On e thing that I’ve added to this Illustration what johannes didn’t, was cross hatching because I wanted to create shadowing. To make my illustration look even better I could of added colour to some areas on my illustration, colours that would of prompted my theme I like this sample a lot it kind of reminds me of acrobats the symmetric lines.during the second half of this mornings session  started of a practical sample of colour swatch wave, the colour scheme for this sample I’ve chose from my mood board , for this task I need to gather fabrics that would promote colour for my chosen them for this I chose voils and beaded ribbon, I didn’t finish this task on time so I’ve carried on with it at home and finished it I love the effect that the frayed voils give down of with the combined beaded ribbon, the chosen colours looked very effective together as there was a contrast. For this afternoons session I’ve combined photography with is task, so I took the illustration that I’ve produced today and I’ve placed them onto the texture squares that I’ve produced last Friday and I’ve taken photographs. I’ve also done this on my produced colour wave today. I really liked this experiment, because it showed how I could add texture to and Illustration and save time. Today I’ve done a reversed patchwork sample. I used fabrics of colour which best promoted my chosen theme. For this tasks we need to cut out circles that were in a size of the CD and we were asked to produce 4 once that was done then I’ve produced wondawebed squares that went in the centre of the circle I’ve also incorporated slashing technique for two of my circles. I didn’t sew the circles together as I ran out of time because the producing of my slashing squares took very long. So I’ve carried on with this task at home and manage to complete this sample. I kind of struggled with this task because my word count was limited, I struggled to stay within the word count. I’ve produced my proposal however I don’t feel like it is very strong, I will want to go back on it to improve. I’ve mention on my project proposal I’ve mentioned that I want to produce some thing for a baby but I still don’t know what gender or age group that I want to design for. I didn’t finish this task,  I did find it difficult so I moved on to the next task .Another task was to produce an action plan i’ve started this task but didn’t finish it, I know the the techniques in which I want to experiment with from looking at my mind map of past techniques. Because I only want the outline of the dumbo, I’ve produced the design outline wit a border. I found this task very challenging at one point I’ve ended cutting out the eye off from my dumbo when I was half way threw it so I ended up ruining my Lino so I restarted my lion on the other side, this time I went slower and had more control over the tool. I didn’t finish off this sample at college so I took resourced home and I’ve finished my lino cutting at home after that I’ve moved onto my research boards on Cirque du Soleil, I didn’t know that Cirque du Soleil had many show to it I thought it was just the one show so I’ve done research on the diffrent shows. The Lino sample that I’ve produced yesterday, I worked into it today. I added colour to it using acrylic paint. Then I cut the exces poly satin off and I’ve placed my dumbo on to my folded tie dye sample where I wanted it be and pinned it on top then using a sewing machine with a zig zag stitch I sew the dumbo on. Over all I liked how it turned out to make it better I could practice my zig zag stitch because the stitching is the only thing that brings down my sample. Because Lino sample went really smooth and quick today i produced another sample today inspired from dumbo. I’ve used the ink transfer technique for this, so the first thing that I’ve done was I got a piece of poly satin and with ink transfer I’ve produced a few dumbo designs then I worked into them with acrylic paint once the paint had dried I’ve cut them out and I’ve sewed them on to the poly satin tie dye sample. I stuffed some of my dumbo with wodding. Over all I really like this sample however  I think that it’s a bit plain and empty around the spacing. I chose to work within textiles design and illustration. So I’ve produced mini mind maps of what I could produce, what I could illustrate. And design, I’ve mentioned things that I could produce for 
;  clothing, stationary,phone accessories, interior, toys and accessories. I found this task rather easy because I had lots of ideas of what I could potentially produce. The next task after this was to produce a  visual mood board of the potential, outcome idea along with the chosen pathway. I’ve done basically the same thing that I’ve done with my mind maps but with pictures, looking at it visually rather that just having a mind map. Helped me choose who I want my target audience to be and that is a baby I haven’t yet chosen what gender or age group, I think that I will be designing something for a baby, I’ve looked at different  things that I could illustrate for a baby including: nappies and dummies. Produced and I found all images that I took at Colchester zoo. And I think that the zoo would fit in with my circus theme so I’ve produced a moodboard and Colchester zoo and did some responses too. For today’s session as i originally planned on my action plan I’ve managed to produce a trichromatic polystyrene response to the hologram circus research. For the first half today’s session I work on producing my 3 identical polystyrene templates however I only managed to produce two, but that still worked because I used one of the templates twice for two colours. During the afternoon I’ve printed both my polystyrene and Lino prints. As  Wednesday my course have a full day and no other course do so the print room was free. I’ve producers two butterflies on the patches that I’ve cut up ands one on a piece of scrap. Then I made my reverse patchwork background and sewed the left butterfly on to my sample. Overall I really like this sample I think it links in so well luly and Luzia show. I’ve produced  these samples on to poly satin. The one area where I messed up on was when I produced my design guide lines of the animal print , with carbon paper. When I’ve added the wax on to my fabric it make the ink from the carbon paper really stand out when. I’ve added the dye to my samples I thought the ink marks would be less visible but the dye made them. More visible. The colours that I’ve used came from the Oz circus colour scheme. I then cut my designs out and I’ve zig zag stitched them onto one of my tie dye samples. For this mornings session I went back to my batik samples the first thing I did was I ironed off all the wax that was on my sample. I didn’t feel like theses samples link very well circus Oz  the colour scheme in particularly. The colours turned out very pastel and in circus Oz the costume colours are very bold and neon. I’ve combined the two samples together in a appliqué technique with a zig zag stitch. To cover up the ink from the carbon paper I tried to cover it up with tight zig zag stitch but I was taking too long so I kept it how it was. For this afternoon i originally planned to produce two designer research boards one on collograph artist other on a beading designer. However I didn’t manage to find a  collagraph artist so I just produced a research board on a designer that uses beading and for this I chose to look at Chanel. I really liked how Chanel incorporated beading to the accessories and clothing. Gold fabric. And I thought that end up going with that sample instead of producing an ink transfer sample, that Lino would go well  with my slashing sample plus i would save time. So for this sample I’ve added a layer of Angelina fibre on top of the slashing then I cut out my dumbo and I sew it on to my slashing sample. Then  used the reverse appliqué method I’ve added like lettering samples that I’ve produced last year which I wanted to use for my sketch book decoration. This sample didn’t take a lot of time so once I finished it I print my collagraph sample, now this didn’t turn out as planned at all this print was a let down. In the afternoon session I produced a sample development on one of the samples that I wanted to develop and that was the ink transfer dumbo sample I feel like this turned out better the only thing that I could of done different to make it better is I could of  Drawn  the stars on the base fabric and sprinkled the glitter on directly, instead of doing it on another fabric then sewing it on another thing I could of done is I could of used a tie dye base fabric instead of a plain fabric. I think that this sample has got a clear link to Leutton the designer whos work inspired me I used the tight zig zag stitch orotund the out lines just like he did in his collection. I produced mini textile illustration of the pinafore design and I’ve used different  coloured tie dye samples. With different fabrics including voils, patterned fabrics, layerd fabrics all my tie dye samples we’re produced on cotton. I’ve experimented with different colours that are still in my colour scheme on my sum up pages. I  experimented with diffrente tie dye methods the two that I liked most which was the button method and the fold one. But I decided to stick with the button method one I found that one was more effective. I’ve also decided to incorporate the reverse patchwork sample into one of my refinements and I really like that and I chose to do that for my final piece. For this mornings session I’ve set myself a target to do experimentation on my pinafore, because this will include pattern cutting I produce a pattern cutting sample To see if my  design would work. And I was so happy because at the end it did work. I’ve mention on my target that I will be using cotton for the sample as it’s easier to work with and that’s that fabric that I will be using to produce my pinafore sample for the romper. To improve when I’ll be be producing my 1/4 scale I will add arm holes and I won’t forget to add in a 0.5 cm seam allowance so I could actually sew my pinafore together.
