2-  UNAIDS advances the promotion of the strategic ‘investment approach’—supporting our three countries to focus on priority areas, populations and interventions where cost-effective impact and value-for money is best achieved and can have multiplier effects across broader health and development issues. 

 
3- ·UNAIDS promotes a more integrated multi-sectoral approach to programming across the UN system, including health, gender, sexual reproductive health and rights, and social protection

-  Guiding role toward the national and global targets: I influence prioritization and resource allocation for efficiency and impact.

-  Voice of voiceless: Mobilize and engage stakeholders on HIV related human rights issues, key populations issues, meaningful engagement of civil society.

-  Provision of technical assistance: This includes technical support to government, partners, civil society.

-  Coordination of UN response on HIV: Mobilize the UN system beyond the co-sponsors for large and coherent response and support. 

Based on the new Global AIDS strategy End Inequalities. End AIDS, UNAIDS Armenia, together with national and international partners – Ministry of Health, National Center of Infection Diseases, National Institute of Health, NGOs and many others – works on reducing inequalities that drive the AIDS epidemic and prioritise people not yet accessing life-saving HIV services.

Key areas of UNAIDS Armenia activities include:

-         people centered services delivery healthcare system; 

-         universal access to HIV prevention and treatment;

-         innovative HIV testing strategies and approaches;

-         strengthened national strategic information management system;  

-         civil society, community organizations and people living with HIV;

-          coordination of the Joint UN Theme Group on AIDS - the forum to plan, manage and monitor a coordinated UN system response to HIV. 

(2) Engage and support communities and their meaningful engagement in health, social protection, and human rights strategies and mechanisms.

(3) Represent UNAIDS and participate in the UN Country Team to ensure effective coordination of efforts to reach the HIV targets as set in national and international frameworks.

(4) Advocate for and facilitate policies and programmes to scale-up provision and uptake of services for all including National Strategic Plans.

(5) Identify ‘game-changers’, promote innovations, scale up community-led responses, develop high-impact opportunities, initiatives and non-traditional partnerships.

(6) Lead advocacy and efforts towards resource mobilization and investment optimization towards sustaining AIDS response UN system effectiveness.
(7) Promote effective use of strategic information to better understand and track the epidemic and its trends, and to measure progress and sustainable impact of the response.
(8) Broker authoritative technical advice to national partners and policymakers.

The CNCS is our first interlocutor in the country in addition to the civil society organizations with whom we work closely. We are also making efforts to join the academic sector and private companies in the fight. There are many other actors and volunteers increasingly believing in the possibility of ending HIV/AIDS as a public health problem in the coming years.

1.    Building strategic Partnerships with Government, CSOs, Private sector, Cooperating Partners, UN system to position HIV/AIDS as a National Priority 

2.  Support the Government and CSOs to generate strategic Information for better advocacy, Influencing and Strategic Planning of HIV/AIDS response by keeping the response people centered and inclusive to ensure Key Populations are included. 

3.  Advocate and Influencing UN RC and Heads of Cosponsors UN agencies to position HIV/AIDS in the relevant outputs of the UN Sustainable Cooperation Framework based on Zambia development Priorities. 

4.  Provide leadership, Technical and Financial resources to Zambia Government and CSOs to mobilize resources particularly from GFATM, PEPFAR and other bilateral.

As results of these efforts : 1) Zambia 8^th National Development Plan (2022-2026) has integrated HIV/AIDS as a strategic area with Clear programs linked with the Global Aids Strategy 2) 2023-2023 Zambia HIV/AIDS Strategic Framework is based on recent Evidence and is in line with the Global AIDS strategy and the 2021 Political Declaration with a clear Monitoring Evaluation Framework 3) The 2023-2027 UN sustainable Development Framework has integrated HIV/AIDS and a 5 Years Joint program on HIV/AIDS under development 4) Technical and Financial support has been provided to submit 2024-2026 Proposal to GFATM and also COP 23 submitted to PEPFAR just to mention these big Contributors 5) CSOs projects are supported collectively with UN cosponsors to support Community Response.

1.       Engaging the Resident Coordinators office to enable them advocate relevant UNAIDS objectives with high level government, donor, civil society, private sector entities as relevant.

2.       Engaging UNCT and H6 or relevant Cosponsors, to enable them to promote the UNAIDS objectives in different platforms such as the health development partners meetings, health sector steering committee, health sector working group, CCM, Technical Working Groups etc.

3.       Directly engage relevant personnel of the NAC, Ministries, CSO, development partners, and other high-level institutions on the objectives of the UNAIDS objectives.

I also mobilise technical support through the UNAIDS/TSM, co-sponsors, other development partners to support the development and implementation of the necessary policies and programmes to further the UNAIDS objectives.
