         <title>Sourcing a Document</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<ul><li><strong>Audience:</strong> <em>Who</em> was the document written or produced for? How might this affect how the author presented their account or ideas? </li><li><strong>Purpose: </strong><em>Why </em>was the document written or produced? What was the author's <em>intention</em> in creating the document?</li><li><strong>Point of View: </strong>The <em>opinion</em>, <em>attitudes</em> or <em>beliefs</em> of the author about the topic presented</li><li><strong>Bias: </strong>  Requires the reader to take into account the background, position, opinions and <em>motivations</em> of author when analyzing the source.   It often refers to one-sidedness or presenting ideas in a non-neutral, often negative way. Look for: loaded language, exaggerations, imbalance,  deliberate inclusion or exclusion of certain facts to support a particular interpretation, attacks, slurs</li><li><strong>RELIABILITY: </strong>What is this document useful for understanding? What does it provide evidence of? What is it not useful for? What gaps and points of view does it not represent?</li></ul>]]></description>
