• I do share some similarities with Jannet in her early childhood in the sense that I was always in any conditions with my family and had a really great time. I was also a really laid back low maintenance child.

• My family was different from the one in the book in a couple different ways. I was lucky enough to not have to move as many times as they did, my parents did not hate the government either, in fact my father served in the military so we respected them(doctors, veterans ect.). It was also a little similar in the sense that we all had a really close bond.

• After reading the first couple pages of the book I got to learn how some people who are homeless or maybe don't have much actually enjoy the way that they live as it fulfills them, and I never really got to understand that the way that the story allowed my to understand it.

  Health was a major part of this as we get to peak into Jeanette's experience in the hospital and how her family treats health. In the hospital her father does not like her being there at all or what they want to do. Another example of how her family treats health would be when she gets a pretty deep flesh wound while climbing a rusty fence, another mother gets worried and thinks she should get it checked out, Jeans mom says a just a cut and she should continue playing like normal. With these examples we get to see that they aren't to worried about getting hurt or dealing with injuries whether that's because of morals or financial reasons they are super laid back when it comes to health.

• When Jeans father was telling her a story of how he fought a demon he shared with her, "That was the thing to remember about all monsters, They love to frighten people, but the minute you stare them down, they turn tail and run" (Walls 37).

• This quote stood out to me because we can see how much not only her father means to her but how that specific sentence affected her and her mentality in life. We get to see how much her father means to her because of how much that stuck to her, we also get to see how that affected her mindset in life as we get examples of her using it earlier in the book and how she almost seems fearless in some parts.

2.) We can see how the authors word choice shows how she feels about certain characters, the best example being her father as she uses words like handsome and just the way she describes him makes him look like a hero. We can see just how much her father means to her with the diction chosen.

6.) The author does a really good job of using emotion to in a way sway the reader into feeling a certain way. For example when she is recalling her childhood it makes us imagine that we are right there, she also makes us feel that very strong emotion of love and trust of her father. But later makes us question if her complete trust and just herself is safe while describing things about him like his smell of cigarettes and alcohol. Also bringing up things like how he gets drunk and is not very smart with money and has a tendency to get loud and reckless when really drunk.

10.) I know it is still very early in the story, and I also missed some reading days but I would like to know why the father acts like he does, and maybe how they got into such financial trouble. Also how many times have they moved to the point where the kids aren't worried about, and treat it like a regular occurrence.

3.) Reading this book in different times can really affect how the reader views certain things in the book. For example if people in the 80's or 90's were to read it things would seem more normal as most people had a looser way of parenting where as parents of today would question and not really understand why these kids are as free as they are. It may also change how closely or how differently they compare themselves to characters in the book.

5.) Some of my early memories as a kid were growing up they were really good as I was outside a lot and we did a lot of exploring and tried out a lot of new things which makes me relate and have a more positive view on how the kids in the book are doing stuff.

2.) My family is different from the one in the story we have never lost anyone super immediately close as the one in the Glass Castle did, which we are extremely lucky and thankful.

3.) I got to learn about a different group this week as we peered into the group of teachers a little. We got to see that even within the group of teachers they could hold hostility against each other and also just how they can interact with each other even if it was only briefly mentioned.

My family was a little different from the one in the book as we never had to stay with my grandparents and they didn't like how they did in the book.

I did get to learn in this chunk about people who had to eat not the best food due to financial reasons. Also got to learn a little bit about how the people who got bullied felt, and how they dealt with it and their reaction to it.
