It was scary going to a school where I wasn't going to know anyone but I knew a fresh start would help me. When you play sports in high-school you have to have good grades or else you aren't allowed to be on the team. I didn't live with my family and I had stopped playing sports. I was having a hard time applying to colleges and even deciding where to go. My english teacher mr. Martinez helped me get through a lot that school year. That year was one of the most important to me out of all my four years of high-school and I felt unsupported by my family. I did the best I could do and never got told how good I was doing or how proud they were of me. Mr. martinez helped me forgive my family and understand why I was so angry with them. I felt like I wasn't ready to leave home yet. A lot of people talk bad about people who go to junior colleges but it shouldn't be seen as a bad thing. You are saving a lot of money while still figuring out where you want to go and what you want to do. I went there for two years after I graduated and was able to save a lot of money and prepare myself for leaving home and going to a big university. I moved to San Jose not having any friends around so I was completely alone. It was a big change for me but it made me so much more independent and responsible. Going to school at a big university was a big change compared to a junior college.
