This is about the United Nations partnership with indigenous peoples, and it is used to find a lot of information about the financial situations of indigenous peoples across the world.

It was interesting to read about the different aspects of the financial struggles that are found across the board. At the same time, however, the partnership was not comprehensive and intersectional and it left out multiple groups of indigenous people.

IWGIA is an NGO that promotes 4 different aspects of Indigenous rights: territorial governance, climate change, defending the land of indigenous people, as well as working on creating world governance of indigenous people.

This site explains a ton of different things regarding what indigenous people are suffering all around the world; it is divided by country, so it goes into depth on each of these Indigenous peoples. It also explains why there is a need for a global governance of indigenous people and how many indigenous peoples have been leading actors in the fight against climate change. Additionally, it talks about how many treaties have been violated by people colonizing the land.

The amount of knowledge on this website has helped me find out more about indigenous people across the world, and also about the fact that indigenous people are trying to set up some kind of global governance.

This is the only treaty in the UN that specifically has indigenous rights in the title.

It explains how they would set up a fund to help ensure rights of indigenous members in Latin America and the Caribbean.

The fact that this treaty has not been ratified by any country, only signed by 24 countries and it was only excepted by one. I also find it interesting because when we think of indigenous human right violations, a lot of the time we think of these countries in Latin America, however, their countries have dedicated more time to understanding and making it an agreement on the treatment of their indigenous populations.

This is an article about the Sami indigenous tribe And their struggles with the Swedish government.

It explains the collective trauma that the Sami group has; even the protections that were promised and treaties that were signed with their government aren’t being respected.

The most important part of this article is that it highlights the fact that Sweden is recognized as this morally superior country. However, Sweden signed a treaty with the Sami tribe in the last five years, and they broke that treaty in 2020 even though the tribe has been petitioning the United Nations.

I learned that on an international level there are multiple sources for indigenous representation, however, the number of times these organizations are actually asked for their input is too few. Even if an indigenous tribe is recognized by the UN, it doesn’t mean they are protected on an international scale.

The research demonstrates how difficult it is to intervene in international law without affecting state sovereignty. Having at least one treaty that’s specifically between countries regarding their indigenous communities is obviously a great win. Also, a lot of these organizations are focused more locally in countries and not the international scale. As well as most indigenous intergovernmental organizations working on the intersectional issues that many indigenous peoples face.

Intergovernmental organizations are involved in the way of planning education, working with the United Nations to better the relationship between the communities, and to end violence against Native communities.

The best way to target this issue is by bringing it to members of the UN and petitioning each country's representatives of the UN, as well as increasing education in the importance of indigenous people. The best way to reach this end goal of people understanding is by increasing the education as well as the spread of knowledge about these communities and these acts of violence.
