This involved reflecting on last year's placement and wondering what I could improve on. I thought about what skills I would like to improve and then decided on how I was going to achieve this. I think by reflecting upon last year's placement was vital in how I decided what I would like to achieve this year. Firstly, from the first day I interacted with the students during unstructured play and asked questions about themselves. This helped me to discover what their interests were and made it easy for me to relate to them by asking them about their interests. 
Secondly, by answering their questions and helping them during play, they recognised I was there to help and aid them so they felt more relaxed around me. This resulted in them, being comfortable in asking for help and they recognised that I was there to guide them in their curiosities. For example, a small group were interested in learning to write their name which I facilitated and guided them through the alphabet which in turn resulted in them learning how to correctly write their name.

Examples of interpersonal skills are communication, conflict resolution, listening, teamwork, motivation and many more. I believe interpersonal skills are vital in any profession but in particular teaching. Firstly, for communication skills, I looked back at our communication module from first year. This helped to improve my communication skills with colleagues such as being able to write a professional email which was laid out in a clear and concise manner. 
I developed my listening skills whilst in the classroom, by attentively listening to what the children had to say. Through this I was able to develop a positive and meaningful relationship through listening as I discovered what the interests were. 
By discovering their interests and what they like and didn't like I was able to improve my motivational skills by motivating the students aided by their interests. For example, one boy loved Liverpool and did not want to complete his artwork. So instead, I got him to draw the Liverpool crest which he enjoyed doing.
Lastly, I developed my conflict resolution skills as there were numerous scenarios during the two weeks where the children were arguing over toys etc. I learned how to solve this situations from observing the teacher on the first day. After observing I was able to solve this situations by confronting the children and explaining that is important to use their words.
