• What did you learn about a character or group of people that you have not personally experienced? I have learned that Jeannettes family suffers with money and poverty, and do not have a stable place to call home.

  Social class was a present issue in Jeannettes life, growing up jeannette always had to leave her home because her parents couldnt afford it, they also couldnt afford many necesiities and she struggled with money growing up.

• Give context for your quote. What was happening in the story that made this quote significant? Who was speaking? When Jeannette was speaking about her living situation growing up, she mentioned how she used old refrigerator boxes as beds to sleep in and said "They made going to bed seem like an adventure" (Walls,52). This is significant because it shows Jeannette was grateful for what she had and wasnt bothered by the coplications that came with her family not having a lot of money.

• Why did this quote stand out to you? This quote stood out to me because it showed a big part of Jeannettes personality. This quote revealed Jeannette made the best out of situatons, overall the quote inspired me to be better of making best out of situations and to stop taking simple things for granted.

In the Novel The Glass Castle the characters struggle with extreme social class limitations, as the children of the walls family grow older they start to realize how major their circumstances are and how desperate they need money.

Jeanette Walls intended audience of the Glass Castle was Aimed for people who havent been brought to the concern of the severity of Social class and its affects it has on people on a day to day basis. I believe I am part of the intended audience because I have not ever struggled with financial limitations, and before reading this novel I havent been brought to the attention of the harsh consequences of poverty that humans have to live with.

Readers in the time period growing up at the same time as Jeannette probably interperet The Glass Catle as traumatizing, and a hard book to read mentally. I believe they probably have had a similar childhood along with Jeanette and reading the Glass Castle might bring them back bad memories.

The Children in the walls family are getting motivated to get out of the house and get educated on their own due to their agitation and pain towards their dads alcohal addiction, and morals in life.

People, like Jeanette Walls, share their story to inspire others and to bring attention to certain problematic situations. Walls lived through a rough childhood but still managed to break the poverty cycle. Stories, like this memoir, raise attention to how serious poverty is, and inspires others who are living a similar life that Jeanette did.
