For my community project, I interviewed a Kindergarten teacher with problems teaching students how to use their Chromebooks. This is why I believe students at that young of an age should do more collaborative technology. This can be a Kahoot or an activity on the Smartboard, something that does not require complex thought processes to access the content. Because if you make it too complex, then as an educator you will be taking more time teaching them how to use the technology rather than teaching with the technology.

I know several schools do chrome books with students but the school I attended. They do iPads which seems to work better for younger students because not as many buttons, they don't have a keyboard to mess with. I think 2nd grade and up become more advanced on chrome books for games such as kahoot.

Hello there! Since 1st graders are a bit of a challenge to engage, having something fun for them to do such as educational games may be a great way for them to have fun and still learn! I would recommend learn4good.com!

I know that Chromebooks are a popular in classrooms. I know that a lot of schools choose these because they are budget and student friendly. They almost have all capabilities that most computers have. They even have a new Chromebook that already comes pre-equipped with embedded cellular wireless service. This may help with students who may not have internet at home.

First graders have a hard time focusing and sitting still, but there are several ways you can get them involved with technology. One way is by using the smartboard to do GoNoodles, watch educational videos or a lesson. Another way is if they have chromebooks they can use it to play educational games. This way they think they are doing something fun and playing a game, but they are still learning.

One good way to get first graders engaged is to use music. I work with young children as well and I have noticed that they may not sit still but having educational songs or rhymes that they can remember really helps. It gives them something to focus on even though they are moving around a lot. They can dance while listening and singing along to the numbers song or the ABC's.
