To be successful in the class. I would watch all of the zoom meetings as the information is important. I would also say to turn the big assignments in early so if changes need to be made you can give yourself time to make the changes for a better grade. Do all the assignments and you should not have a problem. I would go back and fix my assignments and do all assignments assigned.

Have a physical to-do list of your assignments not only for this class but all of them. For me it was mostly out of sight, out of mind for my homework. Sometimes I would forget I had assignments due that night and had to cram and stay up. Not fun!
3) Ask questions! Professor Greene is willing to help where she can. All you have to do is ask.
If I were to retake this course, my priority would be to stay on track with my assignments, especially the more time consuming ones, which usually are worth more points. I would have liked to turn in assignments a day before the due date, not hours prior.

Our professor was nice enough to Messages and have us to be able to resubmit some certain assignments just in case we need to work on it, which I think is amazing. I really liked this course and I think that other people will too. good luck to next to your students as well as a big thank you to our professor for an amazing semester.

I would advise you always to be prepared with the readings and assignments. Make sure you stay organized with assignment due dates and the readings. I liked copying and pasting information I thought was helpful into a word page to return to later when doing the assignments. Other than that, have fun with the assignments and take it one day at a time.

This class was a joy to take! If I were to give some tips, my first would be to refer to Professor Greene for any problems or questions you may have. She’s incredibly helpful and flexible when it comes to late assignments and due dates as well. However, it’s also good to remember to be consistent with completing course work. If you’re taking an accelerated course, especially, creating a schedule and splitting the work within the week can really help with not falling behind. By doing so, I was able to be caught up with all the assignments while also being able to read all the articles/texts that were given for each week. Finally, I think having passion and an interest for what this course offers is an important thing to have to. It makes learning even more enjoyable and also helps with keeping your attention directed at what is needed to be done. This is how it worked for me at least.

I learned so much from this class and feel I understand what I should aspire to be like when it comes to teaching children.
To be successful in this class is to prepare to time manage the workload and do the readings. I took this course in 8 weeks it was fast pace and it was a bit hard trying to manage it, but worth it! There are opportunities to turn in late assignments, but don’t overuse it. I would do differently if I took this course would probably just reach out more to the professor on certain assignments that I have concerns or questions about.

As you start this journey in early childhood education, keep an open mind about the various career paths you can explore. There are so many rewarding ways to make a positive impact on children's lives. You might enter the course with a specific idea of what you want to do, but don't be surprised if you find yourself drawn to a different area as you learn more.

If I could go back and change one thing, I would engage more with my peers in the weekly discussions. Connecting with classmates can provide valuable insights and support, enhancing your learning experience. I think this will be more feasible during a regular semester, as summer school courses often feel rushed with the condensed schedule.

Make sure to download and save all your reading materials; they'll be valuable resources down the road. Also, if you don't have a resume yet, now's a great time to create one. Think about how your current skills can be applied to teaching and include them. Best of luck, and here's to an exciting and fulfilling journey in early childhood education!

What you should know to be successful in this course is your professor Donna Greene is not one of those who just talks the talk she is about what she says! I had a tough personal time during the midst of this semester due to multiple family emergencies and personal health issues leading to a decline in my grade that I was scared I wasn’t going to recover from, or worst lead to me being dropped from the course. I was feeling defeated so I decided to cut my loses and be open and honest with professor Donna and she did work with me to continue my studies and work towards getting back on track with the course. A lot of the time we get teachers and professor who just say that they are understanding but I (you) are fortunate to have someone who really does want to see you succeed if you really are serious about the course and ECE. This is not something to take advantage of but just know that the first assignment the check in when I described what made a good teacher patience and understanding was one of the things I listed and is what you have in Donna Greene. Wishing you the best of luck and success in this course and your journey towards a career best suited for you. Best of luck!

Your friend, Destiny.

Taking this class has been a pleasure and eye-opening. To be successful in this class I suggest that you use your time wisely and DO NOT fall behind. Falling behind is hard to come back from but is doable. However, it's not ideal. Read the readings beforehand, it will help in the discussions and the writing assignments. If I could go back and change one thing, it would be to use my time wisely and to reach out for help. You got this and will be successful.

Organizing study groups can improve learning, and it's a good idea to make use of all the tools available, including office hours and supplemental materials.

In an online "Principles & Practices of Teaching" class, success hinges on actively participating in virtual discussions and engaging with digital course materials. It’s important to thoroughly understand teaching theories and their applications by taking advantage of online resources and interactive components of the course. Make an effort to connect with peers through online forums and group projects to simulate collaborative teaching experiences. Developing strong organizational skills will help manage the asynchronous nature of online learning effectively. Regularly check for feedback from instructors on your assignments and be proactive in seeking clarification or support when needed. Staying updated with current educational trends through online articles and webinars can also enhance your understanding. If I were to retake the course, I would focus on utilizing digital tools and platforms more effectively to simulate real-world teaching scenarios and engage with online communities for broader perspectives and support.

CDE 103 has a lot of great material. There is a lot of reading and discussions required but everything we discuss is to help you become successful in the career for early childhood.

My main advice would be to prioritize your time. Use your calendar on Canvas and figure out how and when you want to complete those assignments. Set goals on when they should be done. Make sure you are completely concentrated on the assignments put your working music on or background noise, I personally need silence.

The one thing I would differently would be to read more, I think I was going through the material to quickly without fully understanding the concept sometimes.

This class will help you become successful in your future endeavors as an educator whether for early childhood or K-12.

As we got into the middle of the course assignments went down and it got a bit easier. Professor Greene is wonderful, this is the second time I have her as my ECE teacher and she has always been great and very responsive with emails and any questions you may have. I've learned very much in this short course. My advice is don't stress, read ahead of time and don't leave your assignments for last minute. Good Luck Everyone!

She is flexible with due dates, and that helped me out a lot this semester, but you also have to be mindful of the work load! This was my first time taking an accelerated course, and although it was fast paced, it allowed for assignments to be concise and useful. There have been many resources shared that I've saved for personal and future use. I was apprehensive about my engagement with the course material since it's a fully online class, but I was happy to find that the material was interesting and useful! It's important to remind yourself why you're taking this course, and what your own personal goals are. Keep going, and it will be worth it!

First, I want to say that this was my first ever fast-paced class, and it was definitely very different from my other classes. There is a lot of information to learn in just eight weeks, so I highly recommend staying on top of your work. Never fall behind.. not that I did but I can only imagine how stressful it would be. Something I would do differently is ask for more help on assignments. It was something I would restrain myself from because I thought I could do it on my own. However, it would’ve saved me from so much stress and confusion. Good luck everyone!

Make sure to keep track of all assignments and deadlines from day one. Don't hesitate to ask questions if you're confused about anything, the instructor is very supportive. I tended to wait last minute to do certain assignments and let me tell you it gained me more stress and also affected my grade when I'd turn certain assignments in late. Don't stress though and reach out for help if you need it! Professor Greene has expressed that she will help you if you just reach out. She's an excellent professor and I can tell she loves her job.

Some advice I would give to is that manage your time wisely, have a plan on how you are going to tackle the assignments. Giving yourself the time to do the assignments and do the research will help you out with staying on top of everything. Ask for help from the teacher or tutors, when falling behind do not be afraid to speak up, life can always get in the way but speaking out will help you. Another thing will be do not overwhelm yourself with the assignments and your daily schedule, take it one day at a time and you will get through this class. I learned a lot from this class, and I was able to put a lot of this into practice at my work. My supervisor has seen how much I have grown, and they encourage me to continue expanding my knowledge. This is a fun class when you do not let life and class responsibilities overwhelm you.

CDE 103 is a course that teaches you all of the basics for child development and education, it’s very informational and goes at a fast pace. That being said the first piece of advice I would give to a new students entering into this course is to stay organized, plan ahead to complete your assignments because there are some that may take quite a bit of work. If you are organized with your readings, notes, and time management you will be able to stay caught up with all of the assignments/material. The second piece of advice is to seek help when needed, there is no shame in asking questions! Professor Greene is an awesome instructor and is always will to help students with understanding assignments or you can always ask you fellow classmates for advice in the Cyber Cafe which is great. Tutors from COD are also available if you need extra help completing your assignments. The last piece of advice is to not stress yourself out too much! This class is demanding but if you keep up on reading and studying while also turning in your assignments on time ,you will be fine. Good Luck!!

My number one piece of advice to future students in this class is to stay on top of your work. You will be reading A LOT and will have to engage in discussions with your peers, be sure to take as many notes as possible. Use a planner to write down your assignments and stay on top of them, if you are lost or confused email your professor, she will get back to you in a timely manner. This class can be time consuming but if you use your time wisely and dedicate time for your work it should be okay.

In addition to reading you will be writing, A LOT, so bring your thinking cap with you, again be sure to take a lot of notes on the material you've read and these will be your best friend. Be sure to utilize the wonderful tutors that the school offers! Professor Greene is always available to help, don't assume she is aware of your personal life, if you have stuff going on reach out to her and she will be understanding. Stay on track and you will be very successful!

The biggest piece of advice I can offer is stay on top of the readings and assignments. The week goes by very fast and you don't want to leave everything for the last minute. What I found helpful was looking through all the assignments as soon as the module was available and making a list separate in my notebook to check off. Take notes on the readings so you know where to go back to if there's something specific you want to cite in your discussion posts or reflections. Join in on office hours if you can it's very helpful if you need clarification on an assignment.

DO NOT slack off, to put it bluntly. If you are on the fast track courses, grab a planner or an app, write down EVERY assignment with check boxes next to it, including the discussion board replies, and as you complete the assignment, put a check mark in the box. Or, if you need to google or AI how to be organized in school, DO IT. There is a lot of busy work, unfortunately, but if you do it correctly, you will learn a lot. Go through ALL assignments at least a week before and make sure you understand it. If you don't understand something or need clarification, Professor Donna is great at responding to emails and messages. Better than most professors. Good Luck!

To the future students of Principles and Practices of Teaching, welcome!

This class will help you grow and learn what it means to be a great teacher. My biggest advice is to stay prepared, be organized, and always speak up if something is wrong. If you are having trouble with anything in the class, do not stay quiet. It is very important to talk to the professor and ask questions. Being shy will not help you if you need answers.

Do not wait until the last minute to do your work. This is a fast class, and there is a lot to read and write. You need to give one hundred percent and try your best in every assignment. Always read everything carefully and check for announcements often. Remember, grades are not given, they are earned. If you work hard and stay focused, you will do well in this course.

There will be a couple projects, but they are very helpful. These projects will teach you more about what it means to be a student and a future teacher. Professor Greene is amazing and truly wants you to succeed. She is kind, understanding, and always there if you need help. This class is a great way to begin your journey into teaching.

Hello future CDE-103 students,

My only advice would be to really take in the information in the course as it really sets the foundation for the field of early childhood care and education. A foundation of ethics and of what really matters most when it comes to working with children. I am happy I took this class as it has refreshened my passion for working with children. Thank you, Professor!

Take this course seriously. It's more than simply milestones and ideas; it's about truly understanding how children develop, think, and feel. Keeping up with the readings and linking them to real-life events, whether through my personal family, career, or the instances provided in class, was beneficial.

If I could do it over, I would begin tasks earlier. That's where many of the best thoughts originated from. Also, don't be hesitant to ask questions or express your thoughts; this meeting is designed to help you think more deeply about children's needs and how adults might assist them.

Hello, my best advice to all you future CDE 103 students is to not procrastinate and stay on top of their work, give it your all, this will allow you to be successful in this course without stressing. Something I would do differently if I could would be to do all the extra credit opportunities for a little boost to my grade. Another thing I would do is resubmit my assignments when I would get the chance to get a better score.
