Later on, we can look at the prints and complain about how bad the photos are and accuse our relatives of trying to make us look bad because we know we sure don’t really look like that. Or, we can text our friends, threatening them if they don’t delete that photo of us off social media that they will be sorry because we didn’t get to suck in our cheeks and make the fishy-face or we have a dumb expression on our face or we look overweight.

Then, decades later, we find the every day photos and we wonder why we criticized so hard. Our hair was just a little messy is all, but look how young we were. We weren’t overweight at all it turns out. We wish we were still that size now. We ignore the gravy on our chin and, instead, look at how happy we looked sitting next to that person at Thanksgiving who is no longer with us.
