Assuming someone struggling just "isn't trying hard" enough is a problematic mindset. It's a philosophy similar to " If someone is homeless it's because they're lazy "  or " if you try to think more positively your anxiety and depression will go away."  Pinning everything on willpower is simplistic, unrealistic, and a form of victim blaming.
There are so many reasons someone can suffer from a lack of motivation; a lack of dopamine that comes after completing tasks, believing or knowing the tasks they're doing aren't meaningful, suffering from depression, etc. Each reason needs to have a unique strategy to handle it. Mr. Geek clearly speaks from a very privileged position, if it wasn't clear by him recommending people throw five dollars a day away if they don't meet a goal, assuming everyone has spare money lying around to use for something so superfluous.

The advice wasn't nearly as bad as in the Lack of Motivation video and I actually agreed with the statement made that " stress means you care" ( also the Snorlax part was cute).  
But I do have beef with a statement Mr. Geek said. He claimed anxiety doesn't have a point to it and I disagree.
The school system of the United States is an ineffective and outdated one that hasn’t changed for centuries. Thus it has no form of adaptability for those who don’t fit the mold. All students are expected societally not only to pass easily and thoroughly in this screwed up system but to excel in it, often past the point of their other peers. School has steadily become more competitive and sickness both physically and psychologically is a natural effect that comes from this. This issue is necessary to bring up when discussing how to deal with test anxiety. Also the comment about " staying in your mom's basement" is completely inappropriate. It's back to the philosophy of " you're just not trying hard enough".  There are plenty reasons why people may live at home, like in example because the minimum wage hasn't raised in decades while pricing for houses have even though housing is a human right. How dare he share this stereotype to scare and shame kids?!!

The only issue with this video is the advice doesn't work when the behavior you're trying to work on is rewarded.  This links closely to previous video and post about anxiety. Students are anxious about failing, they try to do everything perfectly to assure they won’t, they then become more anxious and stressed, then the cycle repeats. This is especially prevalent in “gifted” students; who from an extremely young age had to cope with heavy pressure put on them but never ending up learning how to deal with it.
Later on when people start to burnout they're simply deemed "lazy". When students admit they're struggling, they're told to " just work harder". Those who trek on no matter the cost get praise.  After all, even if it hurts if they graduate successfully it'll pay off in the end. There doesn't seem to be adequate care about student welfare. More concern is placed on rankings and money making. It's perfectly (ha) reasonable to worry over this. Perfectionism is expected from the younger generation.

It shares a lot of issues with the United States school system but feel free to compare and contrast yourselves. Personally I think it’s interesting to compare our nation to our origin country.

Her main points are how the school system claims grades are an objective measure on subjective work, that grading normalizes unpaid overtime and busywork, and grading itself is psychologically damaging.

Every single video of his includes plenty of citations and further reading so out of all of these I really recommend checking out this channel, not just this video  talking about the school system but his other videos such as the issues with capitalism and the looming crises it causes ( like climate change, unaffordable housing, etc). Anyway, he talks about the issues the school system has regarding their students, the issues the school system has regarding teachers, the reasoning behind all this, and possible solutions.
