Hip hop gave them a new community. <br>Neighborhood parties<br><br>1979 - The Sugarhill Gang released "Rapper's Delight" in 1979 and with the song "The Message" from 1982 is arguably the first rap songs that incorporates an element of social criticism.<br><br>1982: "the message" Social criticism<br><br><strong><em>THE GOLDEN AGE (1985-1992):</em></strong><br>1979: Sugar Hill Records was founded by husband and wife Joe and Sylvia Robinson <br><br>1989: Def Jam Records was founded by Rick Rubin and Russell Simmons and released its first official single <br><br>1986: Beastie Boys, released their debut album Licensed to Ill <br><br>1988: Raps growing popularity on the music channel was also reflected by the creation of a show dedicated solely to hip hop: Yo M TVRaps. In the 1970's Robert Moses made the cross bronx expressway project. The album was critically acclaimed for the theme of racism and black identity. Around the same time came the feminism into play in hip hop/rap . The album, which fused hip hop and rock, became a bestseller and paved the way for white artists in hip hop.</div><div><strong>1986:</strong> Run—DMC’s collaboration with rock group Aerosmith on "Walk This Way" (1986) became hip hop's first Top 5 pop single and only few other groups could match them.</div><div><br></div><div><strong>1987: </strong>Schoolly D and Ice-T were pioneers in this genre (gangsta rap)  and rap songs like Ice-T's "6 'N the Mornin'" (1987) and "Colors" (1988) had a crucial influence on one of the most seminal rap groups in Gangsta Rap: N.W.A whose music popularised the genre.          <description><![CDATA[<div><strong>OLD SCHOOL HIP HOP</strong></div><div>The 1970´s: Hip hop culture emerged in the demolished Bronx district of New York City. </div><div> </div><div>City planner Robert Moses' Cross-Bronx Expressway Project meant that around 60,000 homes were torn down on account of being slums. --&gt;Black and Latino people was relocated /communities broken up --&gt; Hip hop = an alternative identity, a new community, for the people </div><div> </div><div>One of the manifestations of the new hip hop culture was the neighbourhood parties </div><div> </div><div>A DJ simply brought a sound system and played music. A practice began where the DJ would use two turntables to prolong and isolate instrumental passages in a song: the beats. </div><div> </div><div>DJ Kool Herc was the pioneer in this field and is often mentioned as one of the founding fathers of hip hop, along with Grandmaster Flash and Afrika Bambaataa who named the culture. </div><div> </div><div>In the beginning, the DJ was also a rapper --&gt; but the roles of MC (short for Master of Ceremonies) and DJ would later be separated. And in 2003 he won a Oscar for his song <em>Lose Yourself</em>, which he became the first to receive </div><div> </div><div>Dr. Dre also released the album <em>2001 </em>in 1999, which now would be considered one of the best rap albums to exist, and his instrumental work on it, became inspiration to a lot of new producers, including Timbaland, Mustard etc.</div><div> </div><div>Rappers like Lil Wayne, Kanye West, Eminem and 50 Cent were big rappers at the time <br><br>Producers like Dr. Dre, Timbaland and Deezle were big at the time</div><div> </div><div>Gangsta rap were still embraced and made by rappers like 50 Cent, Lil Wayne or The Game </div><div> </div><div>Get Rich or Die Tryin by 50 Cent, which is also considered a rap classic, and have many modern rappers being influenced by. </div><div> </div><div>Jay Z released two albums in the beginning of the 00', which is now considered as rap classics </div><div> </div><div>Kanye West released <em>808 and Heartbreaks</em> in 2008 and that was a whole new sound of hiphop, which later became the mainstream sound of today. </div><div> </div><div>Jay Z released two albums in the beginning of the 00' (2001 and 2003), which is now considered as rap classics </div><div><br><br></div>]]></description>
