Here's an idea that I have, demonstrate modern versions of ancient technology and show how technology has evolved. When we say technology now, we think computers and phones and what not, but back then a compass and a map was considered the most advanced technology available for a while. So why not show them how technology has advanced and how it is today?

I think showing how technology has evolved is an awesome way to go about this. You can have the students doing research on their computers about the different eras of technology.

I think the best way to do that is to directly incorporate technology into your lessons. Since technology is needing to be incorporated, it would be best to commit to it. Not all videos or simulation games have to be lengthy, and it is not required to let the students play these games. You could simply show students a simulation of the topic you are teaching and allowing them to play with it during their free time. There are also songs that can be used to explain different topics in history as well. One of my middle school teachers showed played music for us that covered the symptoms of the "Black Death" which was very informative and catchy, which has allowed me to remember some of the symptoms 12 years later.

I have used a lot of the games that I have learned how to make from this class. My students really loved the vocabulary matching game. I copied the link to the matching game into google classroom and they played the matching game and the other vocab games that the website automatically made all class period. I think they really liked having a new and interactive way to learn the key terms of the lesson.

This is a tough one but one of the things that I have done is get with my Instructional Facilitator at Conway Public Schools and get clearance for students to do an app design. She got back with me and she is in the process of getting an app vetted that will allow the kids to create their on "website" and what the assignment is is they have to create a website for their civilization (we are 6th grade and ancient civ) using the 6 G.R.A.P.E.S of ancient civilization. Each page has to have a comparison of the civ to our current civilization. What is similar and what is different?

When we get this approved by the district I feel like this is a start on incorporating Technology into my Social Studies curriculum.
