The farmer's field was covered in the warm, golden colours of the setting sun. Orange, pink, blue and hints of purple mixed together in perfect harmony. The wheat in the field swayed softly against the breeze in the wind. You could fall asleep to the rhythmic sound of the swish, swish, swish. The smell of fresh hay being cut in the distance wafted through my nose. Just imagining the taste of some s'more's by the campfire later on started making my mouth water in anticipation. Life couldn't get anymore serene then this walk at dusk.

I climbed to the third point on the Bruce Trail near my cottage. The sight is always breathtaking. Snap!

I jumped and turned around.

Nothing.

I am suddenly brought back to the time when I was 13 years old. My cousins were 14 and 12. They were both with me as I was hiking the same trail many years ago. We were walking down the trail to get back to the cottage when we heard a snap!

But this time, there was a bear cub in front of us. It was far enough ahead of us that didn't pose much danger, but we all knew that this bear cub meant that the mama bear was near by...

We slowly backed up and left the area. As soon as we thought we were safe, we started running toward the waterfall nearby. We climbed it, and ran down the farmer's road back to our cottage.

I think I might bring bear spray next time.
