The fight for equality has been an ongoing battle for years. There has been times when it quiets down, but now it has come to everyone's attention once again. One group that has lived on forever is the suffragettes. The suffragettes were members of a women's organization who advocated for there right to vote. They believed that they had a say in what happened to wherever they lived because they were part of that society too.

Picture this, you and another person, gender not relevant, do the same task for money. In the end you both do the same amount of work, but the other person is paid more than you or maybe you did more and efficient work, but the other person still gets rewarded better than you. How is that fair to you? It isn't. That is how most women feel all the time about their work. The only exception is that women have to work a lot harder to get paid the way they do.

"No person in the United States shall, on the basis of sex, be excluded from participation in, be denied the benefits of, or be subjected to discrimination under any education program or activity receiving federal financial assistance."

Title IX is an amendment stating that no extra curricular activity can be favored over the other depending on gender. For example, in sports there is no women's football team, so the school has to make that up by having an alternative sport for women to even the funding. Although school is not the workplace, school is the building blocks for sending someone into the workplace.

The fight for gender equality has been going on for what seems like forever, but with each small win there will come larger victories. In offices there has been a new approach to how they evaluate and recruit their employees. Companies are now being trained to base their decision on overall achievement-criteria. The Women's March was a way for people to express their voices and get people thinking. There has also been a huge movement that encourages young girls to be a part of sports and fight for change. This also applies to all women who feel less than and deserve something that they are not receiving. Although women are half the population, everyone is encouraged to help change.

The way women are expected behave and the way men are expected to behave are different. Women are usually set to a higher bar and a required to have more evidence to be qualified for a job and if they are believed to be competent, they are usually judged as less likable. While this is unfair it is also harder for a women to get a job.
