Whether they are doing it just to get it done or accepting that it is important, the bottom line is that they are writing! We just need them to improve on effort. In the writings I graded I can see an understanding of what we are asking, just a lack of effort.

Areas of need: Students are good at finding and citing evidence from the text, but there's room for growth in the commentary/explanation portion after the evidence is cited.
