In this part the media is covering the issue but not in a serious way. It feels like they care more about making headlines than actually helping. You can see how the news kind of brushes over the topic without showing how serious it really is. It shows how the media sometimes just reports things without really supporting the people affected.

Carmen Morales and her son Jaime Ramirez, who helped search for missing people, were sadly killed in Jalisco, Mexico. They had helped find a place where cartels may have hurt many people. They were looking for their own missing family member when they were attacked. The government said their deaths had nothing to do with their search work, but some human rights groups don't believe that. They say people who search for missing people often get threatened or hurt.

We learned that the media can be very helpful. In the meeting they mentioned that the media could help spread the story and help more people know about it, and sometimes the media can help reopen cases. In general the media drags a lot of attention, but that attention is not always positive. The media can also sometimes drag negative comments or make the case seem like just a simple gossip, or make disrespectful comments towards the case, but this attention can also be helpful and give attention to old cases and reopen them. This can result in really painful situations for the families. Civic participation is also very important, creating communities, using social media, and holding marches or events to keep attention on missing people. We can also create campaigns to spread awareness on the topic and help even more those families that are looking for someone, and also show support to those families, it also gives strength to the families, to show that people care and are trying to help them look for the person that disappeared. That made me realize that everyone can contribute and make a big difference by working together as a team, and as a community to help.
