1. Beginning of Auschwitz 1-1

Auschwitz, the largest and arguably the most notorious of all the Nazi death camps, opened in the spring of 1940. Auschwitz originally was conceived as a concentration camp, to be used as a detention center for the many Polish citizens arrested after Germany annexed the country in 1939.

In Auschwitz prisoners would get there and get checked by a doctor if they were unfitted to work, they would be taken to take a shower pregnant women, kids, and elderly were all taken to a gas chamber and killed with Zyklon-B-Poison gas.

The camp was three camps in one a prison camp, an extermination camp, and a slave labor camp.

They first made
the prison camp on April 27, 1940 and the first prisoners arrived at the camp on June 14.
This camp was famous for its political prisoners mainly Poles and Germans.

In October
1941 they started working on Auschwitz II which was located outside of Brzezinka, a
village. This camp had a big extermination complex that included some 300 prison
barracks, four large so-called Badeanstalten these were bathhouses where prisoners were
gassed to death Leichenkeller, in which their bodies were stored and Einäscherungsöfen
these were ovens where they were cremated.

Another camp Auschwitz III near the village
of Dwory became the slave-labor camp supplying workers with chemicals and synthetic
rubber.

We estimate that 960,000 jewelry died in Auschwitz, 74,000 non-Jews, 21,000 roma, 10-15,000 other nationalities a lot of people died in Auschwitz the prisoners were given a tattoo with a serial number. About 90% of the people that died were jews.

They made them work in extremely cold weather no matter the weather they had to work they once marched for approximately 30 mi.es and anyone that was to slow or stopped marching was shot by the guards.

They were only allowed to work if they talked between themselves, they would get beaten up.
