Unknowing

I know I will always stand apart from a crowd

I know that they say my head's in the clouds

I know I shouldn't dream during the day

I know I shouldn't long for a land far away

I know what they say when my back is turned

I know to ignore when my heart is torn

But still, I hear their whispers as doubt fills my brain

I stare at the floor as my tears fall like rain

Because they always seem to find a way

Inside my mind, a song of darkness they play

At night, I stare blankly at the ceiling and cry

Alone, afraid, and unable to fly

I want to soar through the clouds with dreams as my wings

I long to be noticed for that one special thing

Lost, I give into the darkness around

Letting each tear slowly fall down

Know your job and where you belong

Know your place to stay all along

Useless. Unwanted.

Helpless. Haunted

I don't know who I am in this world.

And even though my future may twist and turn

I don't know if I'll ever break free

But for now, I know it's just me

My mind is always lost,

No idea where it's going

Always running from something

And pulling away from the unknowing

Underestimated

They expect us to be perfect
They expect us to be tamed
They expect us to be pretty
In their picture-perfect frame

They think that we're weak
That we cannot be strong
But they don't know what we are
Because that is where they're wrong

We are strong
We are brave
We go into the dark unafraid

We are smart
We are true
We are not what girls are you to you

We are fierce
We are wild
We are not tamed nor are we mild

We are a flame
Burning bright and strong
We are a chain linked together
Through everything and all

We are girls with dreams
We are women with visions
We are girls with choices
We are women with decision

We are not weak
We will speak
We are not scared
We are prepared

We are not wrong
We are strong
We won't pretend
We will defend

These stereotypes are outdated
And we are underestimated

Night Sky

Staring, staring into the night sky
Stars and the moon shining bright
Thinking about a world far away
Wondering what it is like today

Staring, staring into the night sky
Seeing new things for the first time
Gazing upon patterns of stars
Feeling so close yet knowing they're far

Staring, staring into the night sky
Wondering, wondering, wondering why
Yet I keep these thoughts in my head
As I lay there still, upon my bed.

The Curtain Call

I stand behind a velvet shield

Waiting for my cue to be revealed

I can feel my stomach start to flutter

My palms get sweaty if I stutter

I take a peek at crowd below

My grow wide and they tightly close

I stand right there in the dark as night

I hear my cue and face the light

Everyone’s eyes pinned on me

I take a deep breath and then I speak

Reforming and arranging
Bright and glowing
New and growing

Through the glass
It will pass
A trick of the eye
But not such a lie

For the light comes and goes
In wind, rain or snow
It approaches me
It fills me with glee

A warm embrace
Gone without a trace
Always here
But never near

Gone without doubt
As the light goes out

Water's Tricks

Shifting my gaze to the lake

A magical place waiting to wake

A person staring back at me

A land beyond which I can’t see

The water ripples as I drop a stone

I feel a shiver through every bone

Glistening and glimmering on a clear night

Something that almost seems to bend light

The sound of water trickling all around

Becomes a song and a joyous sound

I sit by the pond and close my eyes

The magic begins to come out and rise

A place of wonder and color and light

Yet when I open my eyes, I just see the night

Along with the water just silent and still

The wind blows through the trees as I left the hill

I Stand With Ukraine

The time of war can cause fear and fright
It can stop you from sleeping all through the night
At times you don't know when you will rest
But you have to keep going wherever you'll go next

War can cause panic, anger and fear
But always remember there'll be someone near
Someone who is willing to stand up and fight
Someone who is ready to do what is right

People who will send supplies to your need
People who care and want you to succeed.
You can't give up or lose your hope
You need to keep climbing this very steep slope

You need to rise up and stand your ground
You can't give up, so don't back down
You are strong willed with all your heart
You cannot and will not be torn apart

You are brave with fiery spirit and pride
You cannot and will not cast that aside
You are smart with all the thoughts in your brain
And I'll let you know, I stand with Ukraine

Balance With The Sea

The sound of water trickling all around

The sight of my reflection when I look down

The feeling of the stream passing by my legs

The ideas that flow like a river in my head

Crisp and cool like a morning breeze

Quiet and calm like a willow tree

Beauty and grace of a flower

But only calm for an hour

That is when the storm starts to stir

And downpours the rain onto our world

But for now, I can breathe and just relax

For the peace I have could just as well last

A place of balance with the sea

A place for me to be free

Above The Clouds

A string of shimmering white glides by,

Glittering as it crosses the sky.

An illusion of something that isn’t there

Yet I reach out and up into the air

And I close my eyes and let my mind soar

My imagination unfolds with beauty and more

Above the clouds, I am brought to peace

A place where I can relax and release

Release these worries from my head

Release the sadness that’s been said

Let go of the anger and doubt and fear

So kindness can come and it all disappears

Above the clouds is where I wish to be

But that is not my true reality

A Flower's Bloom

A small little flower begins to grow
A sprout forms in the melting snow
It starts to reach towards the sky
Around it soars many butterflies

A flower bud has started to unfold
Its beautiful color is one to behold
It shines and glows in the morning sun
A new life to the world has just begun

A flower of grace, beauty and love
As graceful as a morning dove
As beautiful as a glowing light
And as lovely as perfect night

The flower blooms to show to all
That life is something that will rise and fall

A Perfect Night

Time to rest is what I’m always told
But there is so much beauty at dusk to behold
Animals began to wake and some take flight
Their beautiful song rings out through the night

My feet tickled by the grass in the field below
Fireflies light up the night lit and aglow
I gaze up in wonder as the fly away
When I see stars in the night sky they lay

They glow and shine as they began to dance
Images form in a wondrous trance
Colors appear and light up the sky
Purple and pink and green collide

The sky awakes and glisten with light
A beautiful sight, on a perfect night

A Gift From Nature

With the arrival of dawn, the world begins to wake
The field before me, covered with a blanket of white
It glistens and shimmers with the morning rays
Untouched by civilization it lays in beauty

The sounds of birds fill the sky with song
The snow shakes to the ground from high above
Animals come out to greet a new day with joy
The sight of winter is one to love

For wildlife has its own way to show its elegance
The picture it gives is something to treasure
For it is given to you as a gift from nature.

Under The Waves

The waves they rock me in the sea

I stare at the water blue and deep

I close my eyes and then let go

Over my skin the water flows

Then I feel so light and free

I open my eyes to see beneath me

Colorful groups and swarms swim by

Forms of rocks below me they lie

A new world embraces me right there

Water and bubbles twist through my hair

I breach the surface and air fills my lungs

Then I dive and the search for treasure has begun

Summer

The sun’s golden rays shine down on me

The endless, crystal water of the sea

A sweat cold treat in my hand

My feet and toes in the sparkling sand

A cool breeze flows through my hair

Butterflies and bees soar through the air

Sitting with my friends by my side

Getting ready for one wild ride

Resting and relaxing and happy as can be

Because summer is coming straight to me.

Dreams

At night, I lie awake in my bed

As thoughts began to fill my head

Wishes and hopes for my life to be

Breaking away from my reality

Letting go of all my stress

Finally I began to rest

I come to a world where I am free

Of the weight that I feel I am carrying

Worries continue to disappear

And I am finally away from all my fear

I can live my wishes and hopes and dreams

But suddenly it is not what it seems

The fears that I thought were gone

Were actually growing all along

And soon a nightmare has begun

My fears and horrors all in one

But then- I jolt up and awake in my bed

Half of the worries are erased from my head

But half will stay and I know that it means

There will always be a difference between

Real life and a Dream…

Fall

Against my face, I feel a crisp breeze

The colorful scene, so wild and free

Orange, yellow, and red fall from the trees

The grass is covered with patches of leaves

I lie down in the meadow and watch the sky

I see a flock of geese as they're soaring by

And then something catches my eye

A beautiful and graceful butterfly

I make not a sound as it lands on my nose

Its delicate wings flutter as the wind blows

And just for a moment, everything slows

But then it is off, to where no one knows

The clouds drift by and I can feel it all

This beautiful and magical day of fall
