To help you answer these questions, consider the following:

• Avoid a long, general information section (background information should be included in the main Research Proposal Introduction instead).

• Don’t include sections that are too descriptive and / or that only cite one source.

• Make sure headings / subheadings are relevant to the two selected variables / selected ideas from the research focus.

1. Are there up-to-date sources under each heading/ subheading?

2. Is there a variety of sources under each heading/subheading?

3. Does any heading/subheading rely too much on one source?

4. Is there enough information to write a section based on each heading and at least one paragraph based on each subheading?

5.Is there a mix of statistics, examples, quotes and paraphrases included under each heading and subheading?
