The song "America", for example, depicts the "Amber waves of grain".  ]]> 2016-08-18 17:31:07 UTC https://padlet.com/amberhawman/hjhbfvtb0460/wish/118799324 Why my name? amberhawman https://padlet.com/amberhawman/hjhbfvtb0460/wish/118800743 I asked my mother years ago why I received my name.  She told me that in high school there was a girl by the name of Amber and she loved how it sounded.  When I was born, she chose that name for me.  My middle name is Nicole, which was also picked by my mother because she liked the sound of it.  There is no cultural or historical significance with either of my names.  I did, however, spend many years in school being called "Amber Jo" (my last name was Johnson) because my name was so popular.  There were three girls in my college classes with the name of Amber!  

I didn't hate my name growing up. I believed back then, and still do, that it is a pretty name. I did, however, hate the fact that my name was so popular. When I had children of my own I was determined not to give my kids popular names. Each child has a unique names that is suited to their personalities!
