Even through the photo I could imagine myself as if I was there with the fresh smell of salt water and the sounds of the waves crashing against the shore. It is a great photo. Definitely. As for semiotics, there is one aspect here to clarify. A semiotic code or sign is only successful when the sender and receiver understand the meaning. I don't know that this symbolizes your grandfather, but what semiotic content do we share? And there by can you use to communicate a message to others? What does a beach symbolize? The ocean? So go a little deeper with this next time. I thought of the importance of showcasing the natural beauty of the flower as an individual rather than the “bigger picture” which is the tree itself.
