The climate region of the Tibetan Plateau is dry and cold due to the fact that it lies on 33 degrees N latitude with heavy al altitude. Since the Tibetan is surrounded by two huge mountain ranges of Himalayas and Kunlun, its atmosphere is predominantly with strong winds and low humidity. The Tibetan Plateau also gets very little rainfall throughout the year because the Himalayas Mountain blocks the rain bearing clouds from the ocean.

The most important natural resources Tibetan Plateau are iron, water, copper, and minerals like zinc, lead, graphite and gold. Due to its climate, there are also many plants with medicinal properties, plants that can be processed into drugs, textiles, for making paper and wine. The people who live there uses animals such as yak, sheep and goat to build houses, to provide food, shelter, clothing and food. There is a lot of plain grass lands, but it is too dry to farm since there is barely any rain. Therefore, they hoard and reproduce sheep horses and yak because that is their food source.

Movement

Due to the harsh natural environment and the fact that the Plateau is surrounded by the massive mountain ranges, the rocky and narrow roads make it very hard for the people that live there to move to higher or lower elevations. Therefore, yaks and horses were their main source of transportation. They were used to load and transport good from one end of the Plateau to the other. Luckily, for the residents of the Plateau, the Qinghai-Tibet railway was built in 2006. This was a major achievement because it has improved the resident's way of life. Trades and goods no longer take days, instead, residents can easily move higher or lower elevations of the Plateau during the harsh and cold winter.

Landform

The Tibetan Plateau is the highest and largest Plateau in the world. It is surrounded by massive mountains. It is a flat land on the top with some extremely steep slopes. The Plateau is 4000 meters above sea level. The higher the elevation the colder and thinner the air gets. Because of that, the higher elevation regions are most sparsely populated. The cold climate makes it very difficult for human habitation. On the other hand, the lower elevations in the Eastern part of the Plateau are filled with landscapes with dense forest, al pine lakes and vast rivers. This are more heavily populated as the climate and grassland make it very good for farming.

Conclusion

The landform of the Tibet Plateau has greatly impacted the people who live there. Due to its location in the southwestern China with a high altitude above the sea level, it has very rigid and cold climate in the winter. The cold climate has led to lower population in the high elevation regions due to the difficulty of human habitation. However, the lower elevation with dense grassland and forest makes it easier for people to settle. Moreover, since the Plateau is surround3ed by massive mountains, it provides a lot of different kind of natural resources including gold, lithium, zinc, iron, oil, copper and lead. Animals such as yak and horses and train were used for transportation and trade. Even though the environment of the Tibetan Plateau makes it a difficult place for human habitation, the residents learn to adapt and survive by using their natural resources and animals as their food source and shelter.
