In section 2 the references are to show the link between the diagnosis and the P, in section 3 should the references show this too or should they explain the mechanism behind the psychological P?

One possible way to structure this section is to first identify the four psychological Ps and clearly state the model you will be using, briefly describing its key principles. You can then use this model to explain how the psychological Ps are connected, how they are maintained, and/or how they have developed, in line with the mechanisms proposed by the model.

I have used 7 references in this section and feel I have met the requirements but I am still under word count. Should I find other sources to back up why my factor is important. Would including more than one reference make me more likely to get a first. for example talking about two different studies and how they show why the predisposing biological factor is relevant. are we penalised for being under word count.

The suggested word count for each section is intended as guidance only, so you will not be penalised for being under the recommended word count provided the assessment requirements are met. The key requirement is that the total word count for the assignment does not exceed 1,750 words.

there seems to be contradictory advice about section 1.1. Sometimes we're told to copy and past the criteria A - J, but sometimes we're told to put it into our own words to shorten it for the word count. Which is best?

You have mentioned to do both copy and pasting the criteria and putting it into our own words. In a lecture I think I recall you mentioning that the criteria counts towards our word count. when copy and pasting the criteria that alone is over 400 words so with the rest of my section 1 my word count is very large, meaning I would haver to sacrifice a lot of words on other sections (around 300 words) to not be over the final word count. If it was just the criteria being included in section 1 I would understand the 300 word count but with other stuff included it is impossible to get the section to the word count with copy and pasting the criteria. Please correct me if I have misunderstood something.

In Section 1, students need to demonstrate their understanding of the diagnosis by summarising and appropriately citing the diagnostic criteria (rather than copying and pasting). They should then use their own words, alongside relevant case examples, to explain how the diagnosis applies to the case.
