Several burglars break in the Democratic Headquarters but Nixon denied involvement even though he payed the burglars hush money. Nixon had to resign as president and to this day it's unclear why the break in happened but this event caused distrust amongst people and the government.

This is a picture of a newspaper article is when the Watergate scandal caused President Nixon to resign since otherwise he would be impeached.
