In this film, it show cases how the rich, especially the rich men have the authority to dictated how people who are of lower class should be acting.  In this case, Edward a rich business man tells Vivian how to dress and act to match his social class. Another is when Vivian enters an elite store to shop, the people who worked there looked down upon her because of the way she was dress although she stated she had money. They treated her differently because she looked of lower class, but once she was dressed like an elite, the way they treated her became very different. The depiction of someone of the lower class was of Vivian as a hooker, someone who is seen as a bit vulgar and an outcast to society.

In this film, the interactions between two families is examined. The upper-class Park family and the lower-class Kim family. The Park family is depicted as privileged and entitled people who are "nice" towards their help. The Kim family, struggling with unemployment and hoping for a comfortable life, end up finding their way into the home and lives of the Park family. Although the film revolves around class through the differences between the rich and poor, money is not the sole focus. For instance, the rich people in this film do not use the word "poor" to describe the class beneath them, instead, they separate themselves from the class that is serving them through the way that they smell. An example of this in the movie is during a scene where Kim and his children overhear Park telling his wife that Kim has a strange smell like those who ride on the subway, and that the smell is so strong that it seeps all the way to the back of their expensive Mercedes Benz. When Kim overhears this comment, he realizes that there is more than just financial differences between them, leaving him with a deep feeling of resentment that sticks with him throughout the film. But unfortunately someone steals his bicycle and is unable to attend to his new job. He takes his son to find out who stole his bicycle and brings justice to what has happened to him. The point of this film is to show the social condition that needs a political solution. They show the thieves as inadequate people and how the society is corrupted. If Antonio came from an high class family I'm sure his bicycle would've been retrieved right away and the thieves would be brought to just. But since he is from a low class his troubles and worries are thrown away. The bicycle will bring him finances in order to provide food for his family and send his son to school as well. The only guest to survive was Margot, a working-class woman who was allowed to leave, as she understands the working-class experience and is not the intended victim.

I choose this movie because it shows that the rich see us as nothing more than things to be played with.  In this movie a black man (Billy Ray Valentine – played by Eddie Murphy) who is portrayed as a con artist / thief is given the opportunity to be one of the middle-class, as a stockbroker on Wallstreet.  He was provided with a home along with a butler, a wardrobe to reflect the status and money to spend as part of the lifestyle.  On the other hand, a middle-class stockbroker (Louis Winthorpe III – played by Dan Aykroyd) is framed so that he loses his job, status at the country club, home, girlfriend, and position in society.  All of this was orchestrated by a pair of brothers (Mortimer and Randolph Duke – played by Don Ameche & Ralph Bellamy) who are of the elite class and made a bet with each other for $1 to see how the two individuals would react to the change in their social status.  In the end of the movie Billy Ray and Louis were able to turn the table on the Duke brothers by making them poor with the help of the butler and the prostitute who was hired to help frame Louis. This is a perfect example of the elite trying to control the classes below them.

A platform--initially filled with the finest food--makes its way down all the cells. When the platform is initially loaded, there is enough food for everyone in all the cells--an very nice food at that--but those on the higher floors who receive the food first, just devour it without care for those beneath them.
