A. What is the Problem and what are the root causes of the problem?

The problem is that Immigrants and refugees are not welcome in Europe and are stuck outside the border of certain countries. By not allowing the Afghan refugees and immigrants into Europe it causing them to fight back which makes even more havoc in the country. They are stranded with barely any amount of food, shelter, and water. The Afghan's have to salvage the little amount that they have while also trying to stay alive. The main reason what they are moving is that of the war in Afghanistan or the socio-economic problems. Also, many people do not want to stay in Afghanistan mostly because of the war, the grown ups don't want to go through hiding away they want a peaceful, normal life. However there are more than 2.6 million displaced refugees within the country and that is a big problem.

B. How has the problem affected the community directly?

The problem has affected the community directly because many Afghans are no longer living in Afghanistan due to the atrocious conditions. Nearly 9 million have been affected, and have become refugees who need shelter, food, water and defense. About 3/4 of Afghan refugees who return home, believing it safe, are once again forced to flee due to the amount of violence. On average, more than 1,200 Afghans were forced to flee each day in 2017. Many are moving to Pakistan, where about 1.3 million Afghans already are. They are also moving to Iran, where about 951,142 Afghans are. Many Refugees though still fear for their lives outside the boarder of Europe because they think it may be safer. Also, many people are getting sick because there is no aid assistance where they are. The people in Europe want the refugees out of there own country, but the problem is that the refugees and immigrants have nowhere to go. This problem is affecting the community directly which is making it so that none of the Afghan people truly have a home.

C. Why should the rest of the world be concerned about this issue?

The rest of the world should be concerned about this issue for many reasons. Consider yourself in the refugees place. What would you do to survive? There are almost 2.5 million registered refugees from Afghanistan. That is the second largest population of refugees in the world. That is because 1,200 Afghans are forced to flee each day, which affects them greatly. Additionally, because most international organizations are not meeting the basic needs of refugees such as providing food or shelter, many refugees are struggling. They constantly don't have the basic needs of survival which increases there chances of death. The rest of the world needs to expand its awareness of this cause so that it can take action. The rest of the world should be concerned because by taking action we can save thousands of Afghan refugees.

D. What is currently being done to address this problem?

Many things are currently being done to adress this problem. For instance, most programs that are designed to specifically help refugees are taking action on this cause to help the refugees in Afghanistan. For instance, IRC or the International Rescue Committee is in the process of helping the refugees and immigrants in Afghanistan so that they can survive the times that they are going through. Some that are also helping are the, the UNHRC or the United States Refugee agency is also helping by coordinating authorities to ensure returns to Afghanistan are in a voluntary safe way. They also make sure that displaced people are protected and sheltered. The Red Cross is normally centered on the northern territories but they decided to move more towards the south to help support this cause. These are most of the organizations that are taking action to adress this problem because they care and that is their job.

Just stop and think to yourself how perfect your life is. A shelter, plenty of food, money, and a warm bed to sleep in. If you just focus on what we have, then we will never know how unfortunate many others are. For instance almost all of Afghanistan has refugees and immigrants that are displaced and don't have the luxuries that we have. Such as the simplest things like food, water, and shelter. We take for granted how fortunate we are every day of our lives without even thinking twice about it. When I got braces I couldn't eat a single hard food and that was very hard for me, but then I thought of how much violence and chaos that others even my age have to go through everyday. Now I think that my predicament is not that bad after compared to others. Most Americans just worry about tests, doctors appointments, and drama. We have an amazing life compared to most people and we need to not take advantage of that and give back to the immigrants and refugees that need help. The simplest amount of food could change someones life forever. Remember how fortunate you are and not to take advantage of that.
