The International Classification of Functioning and Disability has been focused on heavily in my course and has shaped my definition of health. The ICF takes a holistic approach to health and wellbeing and basically separates health into factors like a persons physical condition and how this limits or enables their participation as well as contextual factors that influence their health such as environmental and personal factors.

While the absence of disease/disability is important, I also believe that what an individual considers to be a disease/disability and if they consider that whether or not they are negatively effecting them. I believe that it is very client-centred and therefore each person will have their own views on what affects their health and well-being.
This most likely extends from the OT key concepts that I learnt last semester about OT practices being patient-centred.
Therefore, when approaching future patients/clients, due to my profession, I will be more open to what the client believes as important to them personally.
