One of the best beaches in Peru is "Organos" which is located in Catacaos - Piura. To get there we can go by plane from Lima to Piura, taking a flight of an hour and a half and then we can take a bus wich takes two hours to get to Catacaos.

Organos is a beautiful beach where you can swim and take the sun without preoccupations because the environment is very calm and the sea too. You can see some people in the beach, this place is very clean. You can go with your family, in special kids because the water is warm and only has sand. This place has a little dock from where you can see a lot of sea turtles, they are so beautiful and when the sea is calm you can swim with them. Organos, also, has some hotels that they are in front of the beach, are cheap and comfortable.

In these hotels you can find restaurants where you can try typical dishes, mostly seafood. These restaurants, also being cheap, have a magnificent view of the beach and a relaxed atmosphere. I’ll recommend you try the "ceviche de conchas negras"; this kind of ceviche is made with "conchas negras" which can only be found in the north of Peru. Also “sudado de cachema” is a great option.

If you don’t like sea food, you would also try other typical dishes from the north of Peru such as the "Seco de chavelo" made with dried meat and fried bananas. This is the most traditional dish of Piura and you shouldn’t miss it. Another very popular dish is the "seco de cabrito" with "tamalitos verdes". And if it’s about beverages you would try the traditional "chicha de jora". This delicious beverage has a high historical value, because this was used as part of the rituals to the “Pachamama” of the ancient settlers of the area.

One of the main towns that you should visit is Catacaos, this place is 15 minutos from the center of Piura and you can use of the local transport. In Catacaos, we can buy jewelry of gold and silver, and beautiful craftsmanships represented in gold, silver, wood, leather, mud among others. The place where we can observe the trade of the various handicrafts that Catacaos offers is in Calle Comercio. It’s the perfect place where we can buy, many fine works of gold and silver jewelry.

Finally there are 2 sites that we should not stop visiting in Catacaos, and we refer to Simbila and the Archaeological Remains of Narihuala. The first is 5 minutes from the town of Catacaos. Simbila is recognized for being the land of potters who are known by their pitchers, pots and jars, the same ones that are elaborated with noble materials and tools. And as last visit, we will mention the fortress of Narihuala. This archaeological siteis located 3 kilometers from the village of Catacaos. It is considered as the capital of the pre-Inca culture of the area called Tallán.

- Fiorella Alamo
-Vladimir Sanchéz
-Diego Romaní
