Student-centered assessments frequently take the form of peer or self assessments, portfolios or projects, and exhibition displays of work (Green, 2021). The planning, design, and revision process can be quite extensive, time-consuming and labor intensive. This is a recursive process that requires a continuous improvement framework (Manatschal). A student-centered learning environment and assessment regime is characterized by frequent formative assessments that inform the teacher as to the rate of knowledge absorption and understanding of the learner. This provides a benchmark the teacher uses to adjust pacing and direction of learning activities (Aull, 2020).
