ELL students often struggle to maintain focus while in content classes since they are still learning a lot of the academic language that is being used in these types of classrooms. What are some technology tools you would suggest for integrating technology into a middle school History class that contains mostly ELL students?

There is an app called itranslate Voice. It allows you to speak into the phone and then it translates. The app can translate over 90 languages. Perhaps it could help you and the student better understand one another?

Interactive technology can be great for students that are ELL. I would suggest using Nearpod. It is one of the best free presentation tools that is available and there is a free version. Just upload your power point to Nearpod and add in interactive activities. You can see how all of your students are understanding the concepts and what your ELL students may need additional support on. You can also see what types of interactive activities they do best with. Hands on is a great way for them to learn.
Check out nearpod.com

I think one interesting way you could integrate technology into an ELL classroom would be to create short length videos, such as YouTube videos, that would allow your students to become more fluent in reading, vocabulary, and comprehension.
