         <description><![CDATA[<div>Absorption of vitamin A begins in the stomach where they are first released from their bound proteins. These forms travel with fat (since vitamin A is fat-soluble) to the small intestine. Within the lumen of the small intestine, bile emulsified fats incorporates vitamin A into micelles. Duodenal mucosal cells metabolise retinyl esters and provitamin A carotenoids to retinol (active form) in the body. Retinol is then further oxidised to retinal and then to retinoid acid. However, once digested, around 90% of  vitamin  A  is  stored  as  retinoic  acid  in  the  liver, so there is enough supply for  several months. </div>]]></description>
