Some important things have been explained by Mr. Jimmy to students and one of the important for me is the format difference between the Resume and the Curriculum Vitae (CV). That is because some students are still confused and assume the resume and CV are the same documents. A resume is a summary of ourselves while a CV is a clearer and more concise description of ourselves as a candidate looking to apply for a job. Not only that, the important thing conveyed by Mr. Jimmy is the right format and how our resume can get attention from employers. For example, using the right font, the right picture, the right email format, and most importantly the use of color that can attract the attention of human resources, managers, or employers. The use of black color is not necessarily only used in the resume as a formal color because the use of other colors can also be used and is very important to attract the attention of interviewers. In addition, the second important point that has been conveyed by Mr. Jimmy to students is a resume format based on the job sought or applied for. That is because we cannot use only one resume when we want to apply for a job. After making an application by sending a resume, we as prospective employees must prepare by researching the company background, latest news, identifying top management, and researching the background of interviewers. That is the most important thing for a candidate to be prepared if called for an interview. However, there are still many crucial things presented by Mr. Jimmy to the students yet those were some of the whole talks he delivered.

How are you going to apply his strategy to your own job search?

Strategy Mr. Jimmy can be utilized is to speak based on evidence and value because many candidates consistently talk about things beyond their actual ability. Whereas interviewees ’trust in the candidate diminishes and does not attract their attention. Next, the strategy is to show a professional attitude by showing our multitask attitude to interviewers for example we can do other jobs well even if that is not our field. In addition, a strategy that can be used is to use a professional online application such as Linkedln to find a job and connect with individuals who can help us get a job. We also need to be creative in the use of resume format based on the job applied for. For example, if we apply in digital marketing, we must provide a creative and innovative resume comparable to the job specification. We should also always follow up with the company to ensure they remember and consider us interested in the job offered. We also need to establish two-way communication if allowed to be interviewed so that we have the opportunity to ask the interviewers the scope of the job how they are looking. Finally, a strategy that a candidate can use is to make initial preparations and memorize each resume that we send to the company.
