Hi I am Malala, a girl who lives in the middle east, and goes to school everyday. I love school and love going and talking to my friends. I do have trouble going to school though. A local radical terrorist group called the Taliban, does not like me going to school because I am a girl. I have always been scared of the Taliban because they could take me away at any time and kill me for going to school. My family is not the most wealthy family, but we can get by. I like to hang out in our neighborhood, even though there is always war outside. I like to play games with the kids on the street. But a lot of the kids cannot afford food or toys so they check the trash everyday for remains. Our neighborhood has been under fire for a long time, gun shots, bombs, and planes flying overhead every day. I love going to school and I ride the bus everyday, but one day, something happened. In 2009 I wrote a series of diaries about my life and experience with the Taliban.

On November 13 2015, 130 people were killed in a suicide bombing attack in Paris, France. The attack was led by common people of the middle east who were influenced by the known terrorist organization ISIS. The Attacks started by three suicide bombers followed by 7 mass shooting and a hostage situation. The attackers killed 130 people including 90 people at the Bataclan theater. Another 413 people were injured almost 100 were seriously injured. ISIS responded by saying they attacked do to French airstrikes in Syria. The French government responded by raising money and awareness for potential terrorist attacks and equipment to prevent attacks. This relates to Malala because in her story multiple bombings of schools and mass shootings occured from the Taliban

I was riding to school like any other day, when a man climbed on board of our bus and demanded to know who I was, I did not say anything. It was very obvious who I was, just because I have been on TV and didn't have my Burka on. The man walked over to my row and raises a gun. He shot me in the head. I don't remember much after that, besides sitting the hospital. After that moment, once I got out of the hospital, I wanted to go out and speak against terrorism and extremist. The Taliban assassinated the female prime minister a few years before I was shot, Benazir Bhutto, just because she was a female. She was a very important role model and a source of confidence. I wanted to use my smarts as an advantage. I was always the top student in every class I have even taken. I also excelled in public speaking at a young age. But when I was little, I used to steal a lot, I stole my friends toy and from there, stealing was regular. My parents were so ashamed that they said they would punish and hurt my if I had stolen anything else. From that moment on, I haven't stolen anything. Once I got older I was more interested in speaking, I spoke out against the Islamic faith, and made my own version of the faith. I also spoke out against terrorism and the mistreatment of women. The first attack that really got me angered was the assassination of the female prime minister, Benazir Bhutto, as I talked about earlier. The next attack that hit me hard was the terrorist attack on September 11, 2001.

The attacks on September 11th, triggered a large up rise in my community. People became very violent and religiously extreme. The Taliban became very well known and were all over my neighborhood. They enforced new laws where women had to wear burkas at all times, and women could not attend school. This made me furious. This really affected my area, and my girl friends that went to school with me. The Taliban in the area also did physical damge, they would blow up statues that were very important to my family.

In 2009, the Taliban got into a war with the Pakistan government. I had to leave out home in Swat Valley along with the rest of my family. We lived in Islamabad for a couple years and returned to Swat Valley, were we found that it was still standing. As soon as I got home, I wanted to continue getting interviewed. I spoke out against the Taliban and blame them for messing up my education. A few years later in 2011, the United States captures Osama Bin Laden in Abottabad. After this happens, I got nominated for an award for commitment to children's rights. I did not win that award, but I did win a lot of awards after the nomination. Now I am a public speaker and work to help women's rights in the middle east. My family and I have moved to England where we can have a better and safer life.

2015 Paris Attacks

After a couple of days trying to wrap my head around this topic I'm finally ready to make an online statement. On November 13 over 130 innocent people were killed by radical Islamic terrorists. My Response is this is simply not okay, I am 100 % against terrorism of any kind. What happened that night was a horrific bloody mess that no human needs to experience. I am continuously speaking out against terrorism and this needs to be the last time we should have to deal with an attack like this. My prayers go out to the families and people who lost loved ones and friends in the attack.
