Conceptually, this residency proposed to look at how the black (female) body stores histories (welcomed and un-welcomed) with fixed and pending origins. With an interest in archiving, l used this practice as an entry point to capture both happenings in the body (through moulding materials and improvisation) as well as conversations with fellow collaborators online. I was curious to explore ways in which archiving could exist beyond what this practice is/ does, where we imagine this spatially and who accesses it. I wanted to interrogate my thoughts concerning this as well as my understanding of historicisation - a contradicting form both malleable and bound. For this reason, I was (and still am) less interested in the outcome/ aesthetic and instead, drawn to ideas relating to longevity.
