speech #3: invitational speech by Katherine Hodgson

Share your overall thoughts on the invitational speeches in a brief paragraph. Start with your name. Then include what you thought of the content, delivery, and purpose. Here are some POSSIBLE guiding questions: What are things that you liked/disliked overall? How could you connect? How could you use knowledge and skills that were learned? What was helpful or useful? How did you feel? What do you wish were different or stayed the same? What commonalities or differences did you notice? What stood out to you? Then read at least a couple of your classmates' reflections, and reply respectfully to them. (Include your initials with your replies.) You may also include related, appropriate images if you wish.

Hello my beautiful friends, this is Xerin Alexander Horton speaking. I was very surprised with these speeches. I think they were very good overall. I did not have one I disliked, however there were some that I did like more than others. The skill of creating a commonplace is a very useful skill that is very important in my opinion. If you disagree, let me know, and I also don't really care. But anyways, thanks for reading my friends, I think these speeches went very well. Good job to you all.

Most people chose something that they are passionate about, and I enjoyed seeing them talk about their opinions. As I got deeper into this, I became more passionate about my topic, and I learned a lot.

I believe the speeches were useful as I learned a lot about other topics and also got introduced to some new viewpoints that I wouldn't have seen before without the speeches. Everyone seemed to be more comfortable this time around, and a lot of people used hand gestures, eye contact, and paced around at the front of the room which was good. The majority of the speeches went well over the five minute mark too which showed that everyone was well researched and knowledgeable about their topics since they had a lot of information to talk about.

Sydney

These speeches were wonderful to hear. Everyone seemed to organize their main points neatly and research their topics thoroughly. I thought the topics were all interesting and relevant. It was nice to hear views that I don't necessarily agree with. We all did pretty well on time and with verbal cues that were specific to the invitational speeches, such as inviting our audience to listen, and creating a commonplace. The purpose was to share and back up our opinions on certain topics, and everyone did that. I liked the questions at the beginning and some thoughtful questions at the end. Some people showed creativity in this speech, which was refreshing. I noticed a lot of questions after speeches this time, which is great for understanding and learning. Overall, I saw a lot of growth from everyone and I enjoyed listening to these speeches.

I liked how everyone gave their opinions based on the speeches they have given, and that I liked that were was more participation in these speeches compared to the last batch of speeches. It shows what you guys really support and that to me is more interesting because we are all different, and that I think as Humans make us more unique.

I think everyone did a great job! I think the class has become more comfortable when it comes to speaking in front of each other too! I wish I wasn't as nervous as I was during my speech though. But overall I think we all did good at improving aspects of our speeches/technique.

I think the speeches overall were very good. They all got the point across and overall they covered the topic while inviting the audience into their side of the argument. Allot of them connected with the audience to make it seem more familiar. I learned a lot of things in these speeches.

Overall I thought the speeches improved majorily since the last one. Every seemed more prepared and confident in their topic. The speeches were very informational and I learned a lot about certain things like abortion and organ donating, they very interesting and fun to listen to. The questions at the end of the speeches were good questions and the answers people gave made sense. Very good job by everyone.

Cory Smith
