         <description><![CDATA[<p>The industry I chose to research and write about is Healthcare. I chose this, because I will be going into the healthcare field, and want to know how AI will affect it. The healthcare field is extremely advanced, and with AI it can become even better. Being aware of the impact that AI has on the career that I will be going into is essential, because without knowing what it can do, you can miss out on doing great things with it. AI is extremely helpful in this field, because it helps improve diagnosis, accelerates drug recovery, personalizes patient care, and many more. In healthcare, it's important for everything to be accurate and precise, or else it can be extremely damaging to the patient and research fields. It's important to me to understand how I can improve the healthcare field, because my grandmother has diabetes and as of now there isn't a cure for it. So I'm hoping that with this new technology, a cure can be found for those affected by diabetes. Living with this illness is very difficult especially knowing there's not&nbsp; much you can do about it. In this padlet wall, I will be covering a few sections on AI in health care. For example: AI applications and technology in healthcare, future trends, ethical considerations and societal impact. Talking about AI in healthcare is very important, especially since its role in it is quite significant. By using AI, the correct and ethical way, I believe there can be great discoveries and even better solutions to modern day health concerns.&nbsp;</p>]]></description>

         <title>Healthcare- AI in Diagnostic Imaging</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<p>IBM Watson Health is used for detecting and exposing tumors in medical scans. It also gives treatment options, as well as assess the risk that the patient is at. This application uses machine learning and AI imaging to help interpret medical images and give information based on it. Some benefits of this technology is that it can spot things that humans may miss in medical scans. It can also analyze and read the scans faster than the human eye, this is useful in urgent cases where time is valuable and the patient is prioritized. But some challenges and limitations that this application faces are false positives and negatives. Sometimes AI can make mistakes and provide inaccurate diagnosis. Another issue would be the cost of it. Creating and validating these systems can be very costly and some healthcare places that can't afford it, don't have access to this technology.&nbsp;I think this application is a great invention for the healthcare system especially, because it can be improved over time and become a great source to use to expose tumors and create unique care plans.</p><p><br></p>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<p>Tempus uses AI and Machine learning to create personalized treatments for patients and analyzing how they will react to different medicine. Their goal is to deliver the correct treatment to each patient at the precise time based on their diagnosis. They also use real-world data to more accurately curate the treatment plans. Some benefits of this technology are: better patient stratification, faster detection of relapse, detecting information that humans may miss. On the contrary, there are also some downsides and challenges to this technology. For example, they need a large pool of data sets to create accurate plans, ethical and legal issues. I believe that with improvement this technology can be very useful in the healthcare fields because of its personalized treatment plans and precise medication distribution.&nbsp;</p><p><br></p>]]></description>

         <title>Healthcare-  AI in Patient Monitoring</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<p>Medtronic is known for its use of AI in chronic disease management, patient care, and remote monitoring. Medtronic also uses Machine Learning, AI, and platform analytics to help the healthcare fields. The website I used talked about a new sensor-based wearable that collects the patient data continuously. It sends alerts and information back to the doctor or provider and gives accurate information. Benefits of this technology are: early detections of patient deterioration, potential cost saves from trips to hospitals to delayed treatments, and personalization. But the challenges this technology still faces is: data overload, maintenance and updates, accuracy and reliability. Although there seem to be issues with this design, I think that it can be a great thing for patients that need constant monitoring of their health.&nbsp;</p><p><br></p>]]></description>

         <title>Future Trends and Ethical Considerations</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<p>I think AI has potential to be incredible in the future in healthcare fields. By creating patient specific treatments, detecting tumors and diseases early on, it can help a lot of people save money by spotting the issues early on, and potentially even save their lives. Using many different sources for its information like: scans, charts, and patient records, it can provide more accurate data and make it personalized towards each patient and what care they should be receiving. An important future trend would be to prevent illnesses before they have time to attack the system. I think that would be pretty incredible if AI can help prevent the disease from entering the patient before it has the chance to do so. Although AI has great potential it is also important to keep in mind the ethical issues that come with it. It's essential to keep the patient data protected from getting leaked into the web or by hacking the system and stealing information. Biases are also very important to avoid in these technologies. If biases are reported then it can create inaccurate diagnoses and treatment plans which can be very dangerous to patients. It’s important to always keep in mind ethics when creating and upgrading AI technologies for patient safety.I have a lot of ideas for the future of AI and technologies in the healthcare field, because my grandmother has diabetes and I would like to live and witness the creation of a cure or some sort of medication to help it from becoming a major problem.&nbsp;</p><p><br></p>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<p>A major impact that AI can have on society is employment, and people's roles in the job. Because AI can do simple tasks so much quicker than humans can, it can easily replace those who analyze and organize medical data. By doing so, these people can lose their jobs or get pushed over to a different sector. Although this doesn't mean that doctors and nurses will get replaced, it just means that AI will replace the tasks that it can complete five times faster than a person can. But on the other hand, it can also provide new job opportunities like those who will keep an eye on AI and double check its information and outputs. Another issue is privacy concerns within the AI world. Since it relies on a large amount of sensitive patient data, if not stored or organized responsibly or with care then it's easy for the information to get leaked or hacked by cyber hackers. And finally equity and biases is another very important aspect to consider of AI. It uses lots of information from different patients and sources, so if it wants to provide a treatment plan for one patient, it won't work for another. This can be difficult for AI to decipher because there are so many special circumstances and everyone is different, so the same plan won't work for everyone and it can create an issue for patients. It's essential to learn about the different societal impacts that AI can have on us. By being aware of these things it's easier to avoid such situations or be prepared when they arise.&nbsp;</p><p><br></p>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<p>By doing this research, it helped me understand how great of an impact AI has in the healthcare field. As well as the great things it does to benefit patients and help doctors with tedious work. Learning about tools like IBM Watson Health, Tempus, and Medtronic wearables, it helped me better understand their part in the AI field for healthcare. These tools help with personalized patient care plans, specific treatment and medication for patients, and they help monitor patients' health through the use of wearable devices which report back to the doctors with important information. This research helped me understand the benefits as well as the challenges that AI has in the field that I am planning on going into. By knowing all of this I can be better prepared for what's to come, the good and the challenging.&nbsp;</p><p><br></p>]]></description>
