Welcome to the first edition of the Staffordshire Education Welfare Service Newsletter. This newsletter has been developed to support schools, partners and stakeholders by sharing key attendance developments, statutory updates, service initiatives and examples of effective practice from across the county. It includes guidance on the importance of early referrals, updates on the Education Welfare Service’s new neighbourhood model, reminders regarding Year 11 referrals and Targeted Support Meetings, information on child employment legislation, resources from the Little Heroes and I’m Here attendance campaigns, and a summary of the latest DfE attendance guidance, including key updates on attendance coding, registers and leave of absence requests. By sharing good practice, practical resources and current guidance, we aim to strengthen partnership working and support schools in improving attendance, safeguarding vulnerable pupils and achieving positive outcomes for children and young people across Staffordshire.
