Outcome 2: Children become socially responsible and show respect for the environment. This is evident when children connect through language and culture with local Aboriginal and Torres Strait islander country.

2. Dance:

My plan is to teach children traditional folk dance and Aboriginal dance 'Taba Naba' for

Harmony day Celebration.

Outcome 4: Children develop a growth mindset and learning dispositions such as curiosity, cooperation, confidence , creativity, commitment, enthusiasm, persistence, imagination and reflexivity. This is evident when children are curious and enthusiastic participants in their learning.

3. Drama:

My plan is to teach children the 'Five Little Duck' activity as drama.

Outcome 4: Children develop a range of learning and thinking skills and process such as Problem Solving enquiry, experimentation , hypothesising, researching and investigating.

Number 1 picture I can see bird flying. When I saw the beautiful bird singing and flying I also want to dance with them. It reminds me our course unit resource "Mutton Bird". In that "Mutton Bird" video we can see three dance artistes performing aboriginal contemporary dance. Dance/Movement a way of expressing emotion, a language or way of communication can be used to tell a story.

I want to teach Aboriginal 'Taba Naba' Dance inspired by this experience.

Number 2 & 3 pictures remind me our course unit "Music as a language". When I heard the sounds of trees and winds I want to sing with them, I feel so free and relaxed. In the course unit's Victor Wooten video, he connected Music is a language. Music brings people together, it spread love, humanity. Music is a lifestyle, and it can save the world. Music teaches us how to be a good listener.

This inspired me to teach Children 'Inanay Capuana' indegnious song.

From Session 6, the 'Life is a drama & Imaginary play - student experience' inspired me to teach children 'Five Little Duck' Drama activity.

The picture 2 reminds me 'hide and sick' game memory from my childhood. This also inspired me to teach the drama as well.

'Inanay Capuana' is a tradiional Indeginious song. I will provide all children sticks like a instrument and will encourage children to sit in a circle shape. I will show them the following video:

I will explain to the chilldren that Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander people have special times during the year where they celebrate their culture through ceremonies. These days or weeks are when Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander people:

• wear traditional costumes

• perform music and dances

• make traditional food.

Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander people start these ceremonies with special words and language.

Torres Strait Islander people have their own unique traditional costumes. Part of their costumes include headdresses called Dhari (dah-rhee), grass skirts, red hibiscus flowers, and kulap (coo-lap) shakers or rattles that are made from hollowed out seed pods.

Picture1: The traditional form of instrument originated in northeast Amhem Land and the Eatern Kimberley, although variations can be found all over Australia. They are mad of hollow piece of wood.

Playing the didgeridoo is commonly thought of Men's business in most Aboriginal groups.

Picture2: Clap sticks were most commonly used musical instrument in Aboriginal culture.

Show the students the video of children’s performers The Wiggles and Torres Strait Islander singer Christine Anu performing the words and actions to Taba Naba (the link is provided in the Additional Resources section). Have the children follow along with the song and perform the actions while sitting down.

Discuss with the students how it is the responsibility of elder members of the community to help raise the children and pass down their culture. Some of the things that are passed down through families and communities include:

• music

• dances

• songs

• stories

• rituals

• food preparation

• costumes (how to make them)

• when to hold events and celebrations.

Show the students the Australian Aboriginal Crane Dance video (see the link in the Additional Resources section). Ask the students if there is a special song or dance they have been taught or learned from an older family member or friend.

Then I teach them my Bengali folk dance.

I will play with the Children 'Five Little Duck' drama. One child will be Mother Duck and five other children will be little ducks. Then I will provide them pictures accrodingly for each duck. We will find a place where children can hide , when the children will sing the 'Five Little Duck' , once song finished 4 children will come out and only one child will hide. Then accordingly all the little ducks will hide as per the song.

At the end when none of the little duck come out. Then when sad mother duck say to come back all the little ducks, all the ducks will come out.

3 activity went really well. Children enjoyed a lot. Learnt about the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander culture. Children engaged with these activities and they develop their physical , social , emotional skills. Next time I will provide them more music,dance and drama activities.

2. What did not go as expected?

Sometimes children didn't follow as instruction and also didn't want to sit for long time.

3. What might you do different next time?

I will encourage children to wear traditional costumes to engage more into the activity.

4. How might you use this growth in your future practice of early childhood education

I will document everthing and will try apply these activities to my students in Kinder.

5. How has your perspective of music, movement and drama changed as a result of engaging with the unit content and required tasks?

The music, movement and drama has so significance in Children development that I didn't know before.
