The culture influences can vary. Puerto Rico is a very diverse island within itself. In "The Youngest Doll", the main character, the aunt makes dolls for her nieces. In the story, there is a picture of one of the dolls. The Doll has the traditional clothes of the Puerto Rican woman. There are many outfits and traditions within each part of the island, but the general tradition clothing stays the same.

In “The Youngest Doll”, its gives a look on how on how the aunt doesn't want anything bur to be close to her nieces. Although she was wronged by the doctor, she doesnt let that discourage her, and keeps on going. This also shows that everything isn't as it seems.

In the story it talks about a aunt who would make dolls for all of her 13 nieces and take care of them. She has an injury on her leg getting infested and the doctor not helping her. Her youngest niece got married to the doctors son which the aunt made a final doll for but it was more of a negative marriage with the niece getting treated as an object and below her husband. It was like a hierarchy with the Husband being on top and the husband selling off parts of the doll specifically the diamonds in the dolls eye. Aftwerwhich, the Husband seeing the niece lifeless with prauns coming out her eyes like the doll lifeless.
