For the child you would work from the easiest exposer to the hardest and make it so your child knows exactly what to expect. In order for this to work effectively you also need to praise your child for the hard work they are putting in. An example of a step would be putting the child in the position where they have to ask the teacher to go to the bathroom. This wouldn't be in front of any of the kids just by themselves and once they have achieved that goal they would do it in front of the class. To practice the social skills you want to do something that the child enjoys so it doesn't feel like a chore. This is when her parents knew to do something and put her in a program called "Best Buddies". This program according to the parents allowed her to "speak more to people in one week than she had in her entire life".
