The students have been learning about the solar system so I incorporated it into my lesson. The students had to use facts about the planet they chose and persuade people to move and live there. The students then created a picture to along with their writing. 
3. I can incorporate more science into their writing and even social studies. I try to incorporate other subject areas but I do not do it often. Having the students pick which subject to incorporate into their writings.

Students also take two days out of the week to improve literacy by reading a content-based novel and working on IXL-Language Arts. When learning about the geography and natural resources of a region we often must touch on scientific studies like geology, meteorology, climatology, biology, and oceanography. Most of it I go over during the geography portion of the unit by examining maps and completing Edpuzzle videos. We do also touch on math when it comes to economics. Students must read charts and graphs and determine economic levels of development using economic indicators like life expectancy, child mortality, GDP, Per Capita GDP, literacy rate, etc.

I am a first grade self contained bilingual teacher, and in my classroom there is interdisciplinary teaching taking place with science and reading and then with the combination of writing/math/reading as well. With science and reading I usually choose science texts (plants, animals, water cycle) and introduce them to the science aspect of it as well as ensuring they talk about the importance of this knowledge and also the importance of recognizing text features (NF texts) as well as pointing out that the knowledge was made available by us reading the text. Writing is an important subject that in our school is not giving a lot of time and I use the math block and reading block to have stations and opportunities in whole group to have reflection writing time, problem solving writing time. We talk about the importance of being able to be understood and how when you know how to write and can communicate those concerns or comments, people will be able to listen.

My students got to research the different factors around the issue of animals in captivity. I could easily incorporate social students by bringing in articles that talk about civil rights, for example. Math, on the other hand, is hard to incorporate. Overall, my students struggle with math and I wouldn't want their struggle with the subject to be a distraction for what I'm trying to teach.

2.  Currently, I am making connections within my lessons to concepts and topics in science, i.e. chemistry, biology, physics. In my class, we are doing a unit on measurement and discussing/practicing how important it is to include units and how they are related through conversions. We use units in geometry for length, area and volume just like we use those same units in chemistry. I have a science background and make many analogies for my students relating the two subjects.

I feel like my job as a social skills teacher for students with all their academic classes in general education is inherently interdisciplinary. I support the kids with their reading and writing skills, help them understand concepts in math and science by re-teaching concepts in a way that they can more readily assimilate into their knowledge base. I work with them on social studies facts and historical concepts. The ABLE II paraprofessionals and I support our students' ability to succeed in PE by going over the idea that winning or losing a game in PE is a little deal vs. a big deal. I talk with students about adjusting to teacher expectations in tech and being open to working on something other than highly preferred subject material in art. In social skills we do a lot of role-playing of social situations which involves language and acting skill, reminiscent of theater or acting out a play in ELAR. We have outside playtime which is sometimes similar to PE. We do creative projects relating to social stories, social history, social experiences, incorporating art. We talk about social expectations for behavior, addressing legal restrictions, and potential legal consequences, which is a little bit of real world application of social studies.
