As a person who lives in Southern California we frequently enough experience regular small quakes. I did live in Hawaii briefly in 2019, on the Big Island, a few months after their huge eruption at the time. I went to see where the crazy lava flow they had, had dried up and was starting to get cleared off the road. It was so much more than you realize seeing it in videos.
Also one day there was a small quake, which was definitely volcanic activity, rather than seismic. Pretty scary, made me very nervous. It was basically the same as an small Cali quake but the looming threat of the Volcano made it a little more intimidating.

Before moving from Chicago and Atlanta to California, I was only familiar with extreme cold weather, tornadoes and hurricanes. I’ve experienced about 2, maybe 3, earthquakes since moving here 7 years ago. It was an interesting feeling to feel the earth shake like that and seeing how fragile things really are. It made me feel really small.

Born and raised in Southern California. Do I really need to say much more hahaha? The last big earthquake I remember was April 4, 2010, Easter Sunday. I was eighteen at the time and joked that it was Jesus rising from the grave, not proud of it but definitely broke the tension right after all the shaking stopped. Only volcano I have ever seen was on a trip to Hawaii and a guided tour on the big island that took us to an area that had plenty of evidence of recent volcanic activity. Further down the long cooled and hardened lava flow there was steam rising from where the molten rock met the ocean, it was a very beautiful thing to witness that kind of creation fueled by such a complex system.

I remember about 2 years ago I was having lunch with my husband at a restaurant in Del Mar, and all of a sudden I thought he was moving the table with his legs. I asked him why he was moving the table like that, because it seemed extremely weird to me, and he told me, that's not me! That's an earthquake! After those 4 seconds, everything stopped and we didn't feel anything else. But we checked later, and it was in fact an earthquake. That was the only time I felt an earthquake. In my home country we don't have earthquakes or volcanos.

I was on the second story of our building walking to the bathroom when, and I may be wrong, 4ish magnitude hit and when the shockwave reached me I was mid stride causing an extension of my stride. But the next day I had classmates and family confirm it was one.

I have only experienced two earthquakes since moving to California - one in 2019 near San Bernadino and one a few weeks ago in Chula Vista. Even though they're freaky, it's kind of cool to experience one because it's such a unique phenomenon that a lot of people in the world don't get to feel for themselves. Until it's dangerous, of course, then that's not good.

I was in bed I had a futon; I remember moving across the floor and being woken up on the other end of the room it was pretty spooky. It was 1994 that is the biggest one I have experienced.

Yes, I have experienced an earthquake on a minor scale. During the years in which I lived in the state of Santander in Colombia, I experienced earthquakes since many occur in that area. Colombia is a seismically active country and has a large seismic risk in many areas of its territory due to its location at the boundaries of the Malpelo, Panama, Caribbean, North Andes where most earthquakes occur, and South American Plates along the Pacific Ring of Fire. During an earthquake we always left the house for safety. But one factor in its favor is that our house was built with walls made of rammed earth. This material is constructed by ramming a mixture of gravel, sand, silt and a small amount of clay into place between flat panels called formwork. These rammed earth provide benefits to these earthquake hazard areas as two wythes of the rammed earth wall surround a layer of polyisocyanurate insulation to create a seismic-resistant wall with high thermal performance.

Volcano: I remember as a child telling my Mom there was snow on my window, she was confused because it was May and 70 degrees. What actually happened was Mount St. Helens had erupted the day prior. And even though it was 1200 miles away, ash from the eruption dusted our windows.

Earthquake: I got in trouble for talking during a math test because I thought I felt and earthquake. No one else did, so the teacher told me I was being disruptive. It was in Colorado so Earthquakes were very rare, but the TV news confirmed I had felt one that night. I've felt many in San Diego. The strongest was the Easter Earthquake in 2009 (in Baja). It was 7.2 at epicenter. It occurred only a few weeks after Haiti's big earthquake which was about the same magnitude but due to the depth, building codes, and where it hit in the population zone - the Haiti earthquake was devastating, where as the damage from the Baja quake was minimal. I also remember a Earthquake when I worked at the Hotel Del. I barely felt it, but I could tell it hit because the lobby chandelier began swinging.

As soon as we were seated in the lobby waiting area, picture frames started to shake violently. I remember the weird feeling of like a collective, "Sh*t'" moment where parents and the younger more instinctual kids were tense. Where do you go? We have children furniture in here so you can't even find a good desk to get under. It passed fairly quickly and left the already on edge kids at odds with medical professionals!

I can't remember the exact year but it was between 2013-2016 but the quake was so bad that all of the mannequins and displays were falling off the walls , breaking glass and it had many aftershocks. I have experienced many earthquakes, that I can remember off the top of my head relatively 6 in total. I recently experienced one like three weeks ago it started in Tijuana and hit where I am in National City. The earthquake did not last very long but it was a quite strong one.

I had, one time experienced an Earthquake, acutually was two times. The first one was in the city of Tijuana and I was in my room in the second floor, my room used to have a fan in ceiling and this, started to move super weird and then after my bed for like 6 longest seconds! then I went downstairs and my father told me that was an earthquake. And the second time was in Ensenada, getting close to Handson Laguna in Ojos Negros Baja, and we were riding the motorcycles and we felt how the road make us dump, was suuuuper weird and then when we got to the little town we found out was an earthquake.

I used to live in a high rise building and sometimes there would be earthquakes that would make the building tilt/rock back and forth and it was so scary!

The most significant earthquake I remember experiencing was on Eater in 2010. I remember being terrified because my dad thought it was a good idea to show me the movie "2012" and I was convinced that earthquake was the end of the world. I remember running outside with my family and looking at my house sway side to side. I also felt a very minor earthquake last Thursday but no one else I talked to felt it. I had to look it up to make sure I wasn't crazy!

I have lived in San Diego my whole life and while living here I have experienced many earthquakes. I don't quite remember all the details but I remember when I was about 10 or 11 we experienced an earthquake to the point where the closet doors were shaking violently and the chandelier over our dinning room table was shaking as well.

I used to live on Oahu when I was in high school. There were no active volcanos on that island but there were on the big island. I remember the volcano erupting around 2018 if I remember correctly. It was a big topic of conversation around my school. However, I didn't experience much other than cloudy skies due to it.
