The best option we came up with was setting up two tables six feet apart from one another and having my family sit at one table, while my cousins’ family sat at another. One of my cousins also was not feeling too well so he decided to stay at home. I came up with the idea to face time him so he would feel included. It was crazy to think how I wasn’t allowed to hug my own family members after so many years of being together. In a way it felt like we were strangers eating in a lunch room at two separate tables. At the time we felt as if this may be the new normal. See, I chose this artifact because it represents two things that have happened to me during this past year while in quarantine. The first thing is that I decided to take up painting at the start of quarantine as a new hobby, as I already was and am interested in making art. This painting is one of the few paintings that I started working on throughout the year. Now, the second thing that has happened to me is the loss of energy and motivation to do lots of things. Quarantine has impacted my mental health and in turn affected my motivation to complete various tasks in a negative way. This is why my painting remains unfinished. Because of having to be isolated from friends and extended family, and my only job being school work, I have severely struggled with motivation for not just painting but lots of things in general. I remember when school first shut down due to the corona it was constant isolation after that. It was a nationwide lock down and during those times it was all so frustrating because it was always limited to where you could go. This picture I Drew will always make me remember how I learned to draw. I first started drawing  when the lockdown first started. Being constantly  isolated made me so frustrated to exert some of that frustration i bought a sketchpad and started drawing and it helped a little bit. So now when I always look back at my drawings I will always remember how I first started to draw when the pandemic started. Tables started to get marked off with tape. Signs varied from reservations, or just closed off for spacing. Tables had sanitizer stations to get people to clean their hands before sitting down to order. This is my keyboard(piano) it has gotten me through this pandemic with its music. Last school year at the end of the semester I was supposed to perform a piece from our favorite song for the class, but when Covid-19 hit we couldn’t be able to perform our pieces. I realized even though I couldn’t play for my classmates why not perform for my family so I bought myself a new keyboard and started playing on it every day and just playing my favorite songs it made my family happy, and making people happy during this difficult time is important, because you can’t go on a vacation or hang out with friends and family. With this pandemic the saying “keep listening to music, it gets you through everything. I promise”, is 100% true because when you’re feeling down just play your favorite song and enjoy your life as it is.

Throughout this pandemic there was one thing that helped me the most and that was my brothers jeep but most importantly my brother. Evolving from a quarantine to just a pandemic was rough. After months of adjusting I wouldn’t have been where I’m at to date if it weren’t for my brother and his jeep. My brother has always been there for me like i would be for him and because of this we wouldn’t let each other fall off the bridge. My family received news that we would have to go into quarantine, but life after this was beyond imagination. With this pandemic came many things from depressing to contentment. After the pandemic died down a bit I started to go out with my brother from eating out at restaurants to eating in the house or in the far so the food wouldn’t get cold. We would drive out  for drinks, food, groceries, snacks, fun things to buy from stores like Home Depot or Michaels(etc). When there was a higher risk of getting contacted with COVID19 we stayed inside. Looking back at that moment I never thought that this pandemic would happen and that I would have to wear that type of mask everywhere I go. The mask changed a lot, not just quarantine. The pandemic kept me away from the the things I loved the most and that was sports but when we continued the mask was the biggest obstacle.
