What Do You Do With an Idea?
Author: Kobi Yamada Illustrator: Mae Besom
I would read this book at the beginning of the year as introduction to how I envision the classroom environment. This book is about a boy learning to embrace his idea and sees the world change because of it. When we read this, we will discuss how important it is that students not only come up with their own ideas but learn to believe in them and make them happen.

He uses inquiry skills, experiments, and collaborates with others to figure out what it is. Reading this book would demonstrate how students can respond to something unfamiliar. They can ask questions and experiment to come to a conclusion.

Reading this book would lead into any project in which students had to solve problems or come up with their own inventions like our Repurpose Project.
