How was the economy back in El Salvador?

Back in the 1970, the money they used was called Colones. Since everything was a lot cheaper, the colones would last for a long period of time. with one colone, you were able to buy a plate of food for one meal of the day. The plate contained mixtures of meats and salads. With 5 cents you could buy a bag full of candy, with 10 cents you were able to buy a mango (a decent size mango). Each working day they would earn 2.5 colones, each colone is worth 11 cents in the United States

The 1980,Salvadorian Civil war was happening, Because it has been plagued by the violence and poverty due to over-population and class struggles. The conflict between the rich and the poor of the country has existed for more than a century. The Farabundo Marti National Liberation Front is one of the two major political party; the party was not doing its job, causing most of the population to be poor. The government was not satisfied by its work nor were the people, people wanted freedom and to gain their territory back. The war began in 1980; the FMNL ( The Farabundo Marti National Liberation Front) would kill anyone who would help the governments' military in any way. The united States contributed to the conflict by providing large amounts of military aids during the Carter. The Army recruited teens/ children and forced them to serve in the war for at least 18 months.

Plantation

Corn was the main plantation in El Salvador, Because it is easy to grow and take care for. Corn took 2 months to be ready, the plantation was not small, and it was hundreds of square foots. The main problem though was water, El Salvador is very hot and it does not rain that often so, water was rare, and it still is today. Sometimes the entire plantation would dry, and all that money would go to waste. Water was not the only obstacle, Cattle, Cattle are common in El Salvador and, it was not a surprise that they would try to destroy or eat the plantation. He told me that if you were able to find the owner he would probably end up even more mad than you. The owner would not care and will get mad at you for telling them that their animals are causing problems. Therefore, the only hope would be that next year it would be a more prosperous year.
